The 2010 Chilli growing thread - it's scorching!

My ring of fire has finally germinated (sounds bad Lol ). They took 5 weeks to germinate. Just need my ancho mulato to germinate then thats me set :)

They took 5 weeks to germinate.

:eek:Mine took literally a few days! The plants are now about 6" tall.

My Mexiquin is growing extremely slow for some reason, it's so tiny compared to all the other plants. Maybe it's just a difficult one as the other Mexiquin died and this one is going slow.

does my plant look ok?

Looks good to me, although I have no knowledge at all :)

Still waiting to see any sign of life from mine. Struggling to get the temperature in my propergator above 24 degrees, any ideas anyone?

Troughs at Asda 2 for £3 i think is decent enough price if anyone wants to get some for windowsill growing. Probs pick 2 more up next time i go.

Mine are getting quite tall now but are still on their first set of leaves. Got a feeling they aren't going to be getting enough sun to grow properly.

So, I went to wilkos to get some bits and pieces but they didnt have any vermiculite so i had to get some from a gardening centre, which was 6quid, when the sold out stuff in wilkos was 2.59 or something!!

More potting time :D

so i have put 5 of my chilli seeds in between two pieces of soggy kitchen roll, and put the kitchen roll into a AVENT baby food holding plastic pot which is sealed at the top with a lid (i thought, it must be water tight if it holds baby milk) so no water or moisture will escape my seeds. i have placed this pot on top of my freesat box, which feels pretty warm. i hope the seeds dont dry up or anything!

so basically now, all i do is wait for something green to come out of the seed right? then plant it in a small pot with compost?

Here are my Chillis, the oldest is about 5 days and some just popped up yesterday. Do they look good and healthy?

Going to pick up a propagator tomorrow I think as my ghetto methods don't seem to be working very well and I don't mind paying for a heated prop as it'll get quite a lot of use.

I've got some decent shoots coming up for my Jalapenos, Worldbeaters and Cherry bombs. No sign of life from my Dorset Nagas yet though, I think the temperature drops too much at night

Deffo try wilkos then mate, they have them in there cheap!! I only didnt get heated as they get sunlight and the room normally stays pretty warm.

Not really an option for me, as the closest one is 120+miles away haha. Much prefer the short walk to b&q and pay a little extra :p

I currently have about 16 jalapeno seedlings on the go here. I have no idea what I'm going to do with all that jalapeno if they all survive into the summer. :p

DavidMarq,

That's a really nice setup you have, I wish I could fit a full size greenhouse in my garden.

Meanwhile, three weeks in the aerogarden and the plants are coming along nicely, the amiga mug is for size reference :) I reckon another two weeks and then I`ll transfer them to soil and the conservatory.
