Agreed 100%
The golden age was fantastic.
People like Frank zane, Mike Mentzer and the Myth =)
They look a hundred times better and more healthy then the cutlers and colemans =)

It's not just GH gut. It's also visceral fat. They bulk hard, and then use a lot of cutting agents etc... sure it gets rid of subdermal fat, but visceral fat requires a lot more work to reduce. I'd also go on to say that visceral fat is worse than subdermal fat - I'd rather have fat under my skin and around my muscles than choking my organs. GH can increase organ size and swell, however generally it's down to the amounts of fat in their bodies.

Much prefer Arnolds physique

I don't think I'm really a fan of his. I can appreciate it and it is/was fantastic.

I don't have a picture to hand and am work so don't fancy the 'homo' comments for looking, but from memory I always thought he was a little top heavy. Mostly back and arms.

Something like Phil Heath is more complete for me and he doesn't look particulary unhealthy.

I much prefer the classic look compared to the mass monsters of today, but I think my ideal would still be something like some of the modern WSM guys big and thick without being massively cut.

This

Phil Heath has the best physique around at the moment. It isn't as big as Jay or Kai etc but it is a lot more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion

Arnold had an awesome physique but like Benny said, legs weren't as big as they were today so while he worked them, they were never as much of a focus as they are today so a lot of people were like that, massive upper bodies with legs that weren't quite as big as we would expect today

Oh definitely not, I'd be very happy with Arnies legs. But compared to today is all I meant

I personally think Arnolds chest has never been bettered

There's a picture of him in black and white I think on stage with his head bowed and a light shinning down on him. Looks incredible. Almost perfect symmetry, shape, size etc.

Will post it this evening if somebody else doesn't get the chance.

I've said this before but I still consider Arnold/Franco and most of the other golden age bodybuilders to be the best.

Also going back even further, Larry Scott was awesome! :)

BBers in the 50s had it right imo.

Had not a bad workout on Tuesday;

Dumb-bell bent over row: 12 reps @ 20kg, 10 reps @ 30kg, 8 reps @ 30kg.

Chest Flys Machine: 12 reps @ 75kg (warmup set)

Dumb-bell flys: 10 reps @ 14+14kg, 8 reps at 14+14kg, 6 reps @ 14+14kg.

Dumb-bell Curls: 10 reps @ 16kg, 8 reps @ 18kg, 6 reps @ 18kg.

Not sure why there is such a difference between my dumb-bell flys and Chest Flys and not really a complete workout, because I could not get on anything! Thank goodness I'm moving Gyms.

I'm not sure who I aspire to, but I just want some lean definition and then I may do a bulking/cutting cycle. I don't want to be grotesquely massive though, just defined and a little bulkier.

Was pretty good at blowing up hot water bottles too!

I still can' believe my eyes when I see that on pumping iron! Surely that has to be a product of using the "special supplements"....how else could your lungs get that strong?

Lungs aren't muscles, they are just bags. It'll be the muscles around your rib cage, core and the diaphragm that is strong to do that.

Seems a lot of the oldskool bodybuilders have kept themselves in good nick!
Saw a piccy of Dave draper recently still looked in great shape!
