why so much abs work?

For a few reasons:

1: I love having a good tight fit tummy.
2: I tend to stretch at the end of my session on the mats. I can do that during my 2 min rest period for the exercises.
3: I dont find I need to rest those muscles as much.
4: A strong core is useful for cycling.
5: The hot girls tend to use the stretch/mat area a lot (and its good to have a wee nosey).

mainly because lots of nice heavy compounds, which you are doing, will work your core really well.

I'm a mountain biker, i know how useful a strong core is for that, and yet i still dont do any direct abs work. I'm carrying some fat round my belly, but underneath it, the muscles are pretty damn hard

I have this idea in my head (right or wrongly) - That doing the compound exercises will help me increase muscle size. The ABS workouts I do are more body weight reps/endurance which will help improve my strength.

Clothes are so stupid. Just spent this afternoon braving Cribbs Causeway to find a shirt to wear for my works Christmas do this Friday. I don't have many clothes that fit atm so I'm constantly trying different sizes and stuff.
So I find a shirt which actually fits right, 16" collar 'slim' fit which apparently equals a 42" Chest (I measure 41" so not far off). In the same shop I buy a 'medium' jumper which is 39-41 apparently, just got home and tried it on it's like a bloody dress! I'm not sure I can take the emasculation of buying a Small. but is this just what it's like nowadays with an ever fattening population?

Unrelated rant over.

I can't wear quite a few shirts, the forearms are too small.
I feel your pain
I can never wear any sort of shirt that isn't a formal one. they are either tight on the shoulders, forearms or the upper lat area.
If the XL/XXL does fit my by any chance it looks like a bag on my torso and a complete parachute on my mid section.:(

so T-shirts only when I go out. formal shirts are a bit better - I usually get a 17.5 from CT and get them trimmed around the waist as even the slim fit ones are parachutes.

I think shirts are the worse item of clothing to buy. What shape exactly are "men" these days anyway? Some kind of tiny forearmed, narrow shouldered, narrow backed, huge waisted, micro-gluted, tiny legged manlets.

In the past I've dealt with the narrow shoulder problem by having my sleeves rolled rolled up, but to be honest it's now been a while since I've found one that fits properly.

Anyone have any recommendations for places that tend to be less annoying with sizes?

Leg Extensions
Calf Raises
Calf Presses
DB Front Squat (loved these, got so deep while keeping the lower back strong)

Anyone have any recommendations for places that tend to be less annoying with sizes?

I find the shirts in T M Lewin are good - I wear the slim fit.
