Squat vids.
I know a lot of good ones out there, but thought I would throw these 2 in the mix.

Those squat videos are really good, I just watched both and realised I've been making mistakes this whole time lol, and I thought I was pretty good at squats but watching those videos I know now that I've still got a bit to learn. I've been taking the weight off to begin with on one foot, and move back about 5 feet, not gona do that anymore, and also felt like I've always put more balance on my toes and put more pressure on my quads as a result.

Maybe now you might realise that this forum isn't full of arrogant people and we are all just trying to share experience and knowledge ;)

Watching vids of the basics is really good for people, as life and bad habits people start to forget the basics, which are essential for us all.

The whole youtube channel is good actually, there are good bench tips as well :)

Interesting how he's recommending that the head stays up and the eyes fixed on something just above the horizon. Where as I'm certain Rippetoe emphasises looking down to help with drive. The one you've posted Morba is a good guide but hopefully you'll agree that Rippetoes is much simpler (DVD). Though I guess his is aimed at beginners and the EFTS one is aimed at existing lifters.

Obviously everybody will do things differently I just thought it was a good point to raise.

Yeah, its a funny one, i've always looked up, to save me falling forwards more than anything.

Dare I say it if you *sounds like morrent* his starting strength DVD he spends about 5 minutes going over the loss of drive from looking up. Before watching his DVD I too looked up/foward.

I now look about 1.5/2 meters infront of me and oddly looking down does help drive. Lift the elbows to ensure the bar stays on 'the shelf'.

For those that haven't seen it. I'm not disputing Morba's video is good because it is! it's just very different from Rippetoe's much easier approach imo. The emphasis on hip drive was key for me fixing my broken squat form after 2/3 months off! I now get good glute & hamstring recruitment because of this 3 minute clip.

Interestingly, what he says is ok about the back angle changing when looking down a bit, that is what I do when looking down. Even with a bar on my shoulders. Sounds like this should be ok (from the vid) but it feels a bit odd, could be a case of needing to get used to that as its how it should be.

Will experiment tomorrow :)

I guess a good way of practising this, though a bit more extreme angle, would be frog squats, as you are using the hips not lifting the upper body?

Also earlier morba when I mentioned going the hardest route, part of that is my mentality, arnold had some good advice when he said dont not do something, because you think it's hard, like for example some people will say, I'm not gona do squats, they're too hard, and years ago I was one of those people but then I decided, no, am not gona let it beat me, and am going to make legs day my favourite day! and then eventually legs became my favourite workout and squats became natural to me.

I think you might be taking what he said a bit too far really.
You are right that people don't want to do things like deads or squats because they are deemed too hard. However, the payoff for doing them is them being the best exercises to do. Making it worth it.
Standing with a barbell on your back to do calf raises, when there are plenty of other options available to you, just because you want to say 'Im doing it because its hard' is not the same thing. There is no payoff from it :p

Welcome to capitalism. There is a bigger demand for articles, pictures, etc. of Male bobybuilders than there is Female. Demand = income.

That and choice.
People generally dont want to see huge women. Its not feminine and its so far from the extreme that its just wrong for 99.9% of people out there.
Fitness is a more acceptable level to be training for, for both men and women.

I agree on the judging. Sometimes its like people win things 'because they have paid their dues' rather than on proper merit.
That's not gonna change though. Things would need to die and be reborn before that happens.
