Gym going well. New PB in dumbell presses. Threw up the 47kgs for 8 solid reps. My PBs I count in sets of 8 reps or more. Reckon I could've tried the 50s for 2-3 but my shoulder was twinging a bit after that effort. Usually I'm comfortable with the 42-45 range.

Still going regularly with a monster focus on legs. Leg pressing and squatting twice to three times a week.

Tom Martin did an AMA on reddit today if anyone is interested -https://www.reddit.com/r/powerlifting/comments/47ob25/ama_with_tom_martin/

I like Tom's integrity in answering the questions about his direction:

Been following you for a long time on various platforms now (think the first time I saw anything from you was the video of your competition back in 2010 where you hit a 350 kg deadlift) and I'm very impressed with your progress over the years. What I'm wondering though is why you made the switch from IPF to GPC?

lol don't make me answer that..... errrr, they have a more favourable set of rules for the direction I wanted to take my lifting in, and cheating in powerlifting is probably a worse thing to do than in any other sport with all the options available to lift on whatever playing field you want to.

Well, at least I'm glad you didn't stay in the IPF under those circumstances, so thank you for having the integrity to leave. As an IPF lifter myself, it's a bit sad to see one of the best powerlifters within our federation make that switch, however. I do wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Thankyou for your udnerstanding, it wasn't a decision I took lightly and there were a lot of personal factors in deciding to make the switch.
Powerlifting for me isn't about beating people and winning a ****** plastic trophy. I just want to keep getting stronger and putting up the biggest numbers possible. I see no good reason whatsoever for choosing to do this in a federation with rules you would be breaking.

Although I'm still disappointed/sad he decided to take that route, I now better understand his reasons, and his honesty is refreshing. However, he's clearly just after big numbers and at least he's not going to be labelled as a cheat for staying in the IPF and he has done the honourable thing which I must and will give respect to. So now it's time to see what numbers he can achieve which will be inspirational despite less achievable by natural lifters. :)

His natty PRs were already beyond what 99% of people would be capable of anyway. :p

But like he said, using PEDs in tested PL feds is lol given untested feds both exist and are officially recognised - I presume people test-dodge in the IPF because:

1) care about winning plastic trophies or what other people are lifting compared to you; easier to beat natties when you're assisted than other assisted lifters.

2) are deluded enough to think tested raw powerlifing will become a professional Olympic sport/full-time financially viable or sponsored thing. It won't.

Tried this today, luckily I 'passed' through all my warm-ups but it's definitely made me a bit more aware in my higher rep sets when I fatigue I'm not keeping the weight centered enough.

Also the earlier article was useful but I already knew that as a proper high bar wh0re.

Really handy video, I am aware that my squat technique is holding me back from lifting heavier. I have a tendency to try and push from my toes which can cause all sorts of balance issues.

Apologies if this isn't strictly the best thread for this but after a quick search it seem's the most likely to be helpful. I'm thinking about prepping my meals for the week ahead and was wondering if someone could recommend a set of food containers that's reasonably robust. Searches on Amazon bring up everything from overpriced containers seemingly made form cling film to mega expensive ones that would survive a drop from orbit.

Thank you in advance for any help

Local B&M or Poundland will be fine. I picked up a load of tupperware from Poundland only recently, all with clips so no worries about leaking or not being sealed properly

Pop down literally any supermarket and look at their Tupperware ranges.......?

I find the likes of tesco a bit expensive for tupperware
