That's always the plan but then the missus starts ribbing me and I look in the mirror and think "Yeah, damn I AM fat!" and I think if I cut I will look ripped, but then I just look like a skinny non-lifting bar steward.

Will try keep at it this time and hit some decent numbers this year. Feels weird not doing flat bench though. Been scared off it since I don't want to get injured again. For the past 2 months I've only done front squats and deadlifts every session (doing low bar back squats really hurt my arm since I have to put my arm behind me to hold the bar in place). All this on a cut too, so my DL has stayed the same or maybe even weaker (best I pulled was 125kg x 5).

Eat properly (based on your calorific burn rate) and squat properly (high bar). ;)

I'm 5'10 and 73kg/161lbs. I used the Navy calculator online and I think I am about 16%BF. My 32" jeans are too baggy, so I guess I should be 31". Twice I've reached 78kg but then my wife complains about my weight, so I ended up cutting again.

At your height 78kg is still light! Your wife complaining about your weight at that level is ridiculous...

What she really means is "Why do you want to look better!? Who are you trying to impress!!!"

RIP Bro.

I actually am squatting high bar now since I think it keeps my arms at a better angle so they aren't straining on my shoulders as much. On low bar I really had to wrench my arms down to get a good placement on my shoulders.

Yeah tell me about it. The main problem is I seem to get a bit of man boobs at that level. I think from doing bench I got bigger pecs, which push the fat up and it looks like I actually have pecs with a shirt on (optical illusion FTW). But with a shirt off if I/the wife poke my chest then you can tell it's just fat. From other guys' progress pics I think this is normal though.

What she really means is "Why do you want to look better!? Who are you trying to impress!!!"

lol too much truth. Already got enough sloots sniffing around, nomsayin?

Hopefully 2016 is going to be a good year for lifting for me, last year was my first real year of consistent lifting but spent 4 months of it going from 200 > 173 pounds, then spent the last few months just eating at maintenance as I was bored of cutting and didn't want to put on any weight at the same time. Hovering around 175 at the moment but my lifts have been pretty much the same (or worse) since I started the weight loss.

Plan is to lose another 7 pounds, and then start a lean bulk and hopefully start seeing my lifts improve again. Aiming for a BW bench, 2 x BW deadlift and 1.5 x BW squat by the end of June. Excited to finally get out of the caloric deficit/maintenance and start making some GAINS!

Dreading this evening, I am all for people going to the gym in to better themselves but the majority sit there, using every single dumbbell while on a Bluetooth headset.

Roll on February, when they disperse and get bored.

90% of them will be dreading it to. Trying to use equipment for the first time they've never used whilst a few regulars tut, huff and frown.

Try offering your expert advice :)

Oh absolutely- ill offer advice if required, but it certainty wont be expert :)

Just majority, we see them every January and then go into the shadows for 11 months or 6 weeks before holidays.

First session of the year and lunch time seemed a pretty decent time still, not too busy at all.

Goal for this year? Well I'm going to keep cutting until the meet on the 23rd, then I'll be taking a serious approach to bulking for the first time in forever. Hopefully 2016 should see me gaining some size.

Trying to get back into Stronglifts as I lost a lot of weight with that last time. Currently 107KG after losing 10kg in the run up to Christmas. Would love to get down to 90KG but, we shall see.

Gym was actually fairly quiet last night - just the cardio machines having a hammering.

Over the Christmas period I always take a week off' and don't count calories. Sitting around 72kg

Shoulders yesterday evening, strength was up (as expected)

b1) Seated Lat Raises 5 x 8-10, rest 90s. (2 x WU & 1 x DS).
c1) Bent over lat raises 3 x 8-10, rest 90s (1 x DS).

My training last year was a little bit inconsistent, partly due to being really busy with work, getting married and a little bit down to lacking in motivation.

Looking forward to getting back into a proper routine this year and making good progress, will start a log tonight :)

In.

Had a good year in the gym last year and managed to sort out a lot of the physical issues that were holding me back and put on just over a stone in flabby muscle. :)

I want to sort out my diet this year so can anyone recommend a decent place to buy whey and possibly a tasty brand of whey if such a thing exists?

I just buy from MyProtein/GoNutrition depending on who has the best deal at the time (they always have offers on). I usually get unflavoured and just add hot chocolate powder, but I recently bought Maple Syrup & Pancake from GoNutrition and it actually tastes quite nice. Cafe Latte from there is also good. The only thing is they put too much sweetener in, so it tastes really sweet.

Gym taking a hammering from the New Year resolution types. Spoke to a few regulars and they say that late morning is the best time to go at the moment. Seeing that my gym only charge £3.20 a week to be a member it's understandable that so many join. Personal Trainer I'm friendly with says it should tail off mid to late January.

Anyway, training still going well. Had a light cold the past few days so trained at home but back this morning.
