Just adding as I follow strongman a lot. Earlier this evening Eddie Hall pulled a 500kg deadlift!

Plenty of footage on the net. It looked to me there was another 5-10kg there easily. This may very well be the last 100kg milestone we ever see a human reach.

Do you think 600kg is physically impossible for the human body?

What happened to Eddie Hall after he completed the deadlift? In the clip I saw yesterday, he was on the floor with people around him.

Pressure drop, he gets em fairly often (usually when OHP). Had a couple of instances meself, hilarious tbh :D

In terms of the synchronicity needed for that move probably not. If you have someone as big as Thor having 650kg across his back and taking a few steps lifting that from the floor is nigh on impossible.

I think Eddie will now go for a bigger lift so he will be the first to go over 500kg iyswim. Probably a 502.5-505. After that lift there was a fraction more. It was probably between a 96-99% loft imo as his form didn't suffer massively (considering how he lifts vs his failed 461kg from 2014 where you see the form go)

He still has his "man strength" years ahead of him as well. Career wise? 525-550? I'd certainly like to think so.

Would like to see what Brian Shaw can bring now.

I hope he moves over to powerlifting sooner rather than later. He's improved his mobility a lot of the last few days but his forte is static events and powerlifting would suit him down to the ground.

I think Shaw and Thor have got the strength to lift similar weights but their height will stop them from doing so. I think Benni is the only man that can challenge Hall now, that's if he stays fit.

Ah, I see what you mean now. Yeah, we can hope though :D

I don't get to post in here as often as I would like:

Finally after a few years of training, I have started to find a happy medium. Allowing downtime to enjoy situations whereby in the past I use to tend to avoid. I would tend to avoid social gathers or being put in situations that deviated from outside the norm.

I am probably not as lean as I was 12 months ago, however while I have noticed by allowing myself to socialise, enjoy meals out on a very regular basis has lowered stress levels and thus improved my overall physique, and size. 

The biggest tip I can I can give anyone looking who has started training, and decide to take it fairly serious is to take a step away every so often.

Consistency is key - this is still a huge part but letting your hair down every so often can actually help. I tend to take a week off every 6-8 weeks now, to rest up and recover properly.

It’s just a shame it has taken me so long to realise.

When you get back on the wagon, I know a guy who was advertising a 100 day "get jacked" plan... ;)

You are bang on, however - lift because you enjoy it: when training for something specific, go nuts, but it will be detrimental to other things. :)

HaHaHa, that ship sailed a long time ago  I have put a decent amount of size on since then  being in a constant deficient is no good for anyone.

If I am honest, as most here will probably agree. I do not lift because I enjoy it, it's a simple case of vanity. Do I really want to be spending 5-6 nights a week in the gym - NO! I do it because well I like to feel good about myself, and look good ;)

Well don't worry Kai, I'm sure you'll start to look good soon :p :D

Seriously though, social life and stress levels are far more important than looking good for the 4.5 days of summer we get a year over here. I train for vanity too, and I love it. But sometimes when work or life gets in the way, you have to be able to say "C'est le vie" and remember the gym will be there in a week or twos time.

I've not trained full stop in about 8 weeks or with any real consistency for months.

First question from some new guys we had in the office to do some training last week was "So how many times do you go to the gym a week? What's your diet like?"

Therefore I obviously still look vaguely like a gym user, that's good enough for me right now :D

I'm slowly getting back into it - I'm just busy with life, and I've lost a bit of focus, and I don't do it for vanity, I do it because I want to be stronger, more flexible and healthier. However, my strength has taken a nose dive, and as a result I've lost motivation as a result. I also can't be bothered to spend hours in the gym every day like I used to. I actually enjoy doing other things (like reading a book) which I find more fulfilling at the moment.

Still, I'm doing some gym work around 3x a week at the moment, and try to keep them to around 40-45 mins, so weights are light, but intensity is a little higher.

Unfortunately I am also generally a really lazy person, so have to force myself to do things like this which doesn't help!
