The 3 best players in the world... your thoughts?

lol at people picking Rooney over the likes of Etoo, Villa, Cavani, etc.

if Etoo was English and playing for Manchester United, no doubt he would be the greatest striker ever to grace the planet.

If Rooney had just signed for Lokomotiv Ruski Loadsacashki no doubt he would be immediately discarded from the conversation.

Eto'o is an amazing player, but he's very one dimensional :)

This plays a part, Eto'o is undoubtedly the best player at that club, but he's out of the media coverage (Russia isn't given the same coverage as English, Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal ect ect)

I also think he's going to struggle to adapt to life off the pitch and the racism that is strife within East European football. Great shame as he's still easily good enough for most top European clubs, can't blame him for taking the money though.

lol at you picking Cavani who had one good season last year.
No where near the consistency of Rooney.

How can you condemn someone for consistency, then highlight a player who himself has been inconsistent, particularly at international level?

I have no interest in international level which seems to be a moveable feast at the best of times.

Rooney has consistantly perfomed for Man Utd in a variety of forward positions. His trophy and medal haul both as an individual and as part of a team illustrate this. His transfer fee when he was signed suggests he was considered "pretty good" before he signed for Man Utd so i would say he is a decent player and consistancy isnt really an issue.
 
I at no time have echoed cavani.

My choices were Ronaldo, Messi and Eto'o.

I am in no doubt Rooney is World class, but not as consistent as the three above,

You questioned the criteria upon which Rooney was mentioned. It seemed to fly in the face of his poor half/three qaurter season in his entire career which hardly smacks of "inconsistancy".
 
.....it was used against someone who claimed Cavani can't be classed as World Class after ONE SEASON.

Hence I said, it's not a good example....it was an "illustration".

lol Cavani was playing with rubbish players around him up until last season, then with some decent players around him he tore the league apart.

If he signs for Barca in a year or two, no doubt with the class they have he will be scoring every game.

He can score every type of goal too, headers, volleys, skinning players, etc.

Yeah he has one amazing season, but it's the first season he has ever had decent players around him, stick Rooney in Palermo's team and i bet you his stats would be a lot worse than Cavani's.

Cavani > Rooney

I honestly think Eto'o is the best finisher in the world. Would put him above rooney, personally.
