The 5 year plan to £50k

To be honest, this makes you sound incredibly immature for a 34 year old. Based on that I think you will be lucky to earn 35k in 5 years.

Based on absolutely nothing at all, you mean?

So in Richdog's world, it's OK to mock and belittle someone, but if they ever become angry at this, they're immature. Logic, huh.

Whats your views on just moving out from under your parents feet?

Why not plan to be in your own place within the next 2 months?

The independence will show you how real people live their lives. In turn hopefully motivating you to change your ways.

I'm looking into it. Having taken advice from someone who knows the local property market very well, I should wait until later on in the year, when buyers get a better deal.

I'm not looking to rent.

No, not based on nothing at all, based on your posts and the impression you are giving.

No, in my world I place my actual problems above meaningless taunts from random, faceless people on the internet. :)

if you want to be single and live by the rules of your parents sure.

also your autistic so your bound to prefer living with your parents as you likely find the prospect of living alone and being responsible for everything a daunting and anxiety filled nightmare.

I don't live by rules of parents. I make decisions in respect to them such as not having orgies and other obvious choices, but I can come and go as I please. I pay keep for this reason.

True, even when they are on holiday for a week and I have a dog I get anxious and panic attacks, very true unfortunatly.

Have you considered moving north, get away from all the rip off prices for property in the south, better mannered people:)
That is exactly why I am moving. Hate it down here, too much self entitlement everywhere you go and general attitude problems. Not to mention the majority here hate anyone successful, not really an ideal place to live if you don't care about beaches and outdoor activities.

No he probably means that by the time you get to 50k a year in the corporate world, you should be able to rise above the trolls...because you will have to deal with a lot of them at that level!

Sounds to me like you don't ever want to move out of your safety net/basement.

I really cant see him buying a house any time soon.

Why cant you just rent and get out of your parents ASAP? Surely it affects how potential girlfriends view you. A bit independence will be worth a lot.

Edit : OP cant afford to fund uni, but is currently waiting til the end of the year when its more of a "buyers market" for a house purchase. Uh huh.

Why move out immediately? I just don't understand why so many people say this is my immediate priority.

Is it the idea that everyone should struggle financially for a while (except those born rich)? Not to mention that I would be paying off someone else's mortgage for them.

Tbh I *hate* the idea that I could be working 40 hours a week to pay for someone else to own a house. I *detest* that idea. Living at home is not perfect, but I don't dislike it.

Rent money is money you might as well burn. Not only that, it's making the rich richer. It's typical of everything that I feel is unfair with this country. You have no idea how much I would resent being a tenant.

And yet the suggestion is that I'd benefit somehow from actually being worse off... I genuinely fail to comprehend this argument.

Aren't you the furry? Surely having your own pad would allow you to pursue that more easily.

Pursue what exactly? Despite what you may have heard (from certain people), I don't dress up like animals or anything like that.

[edit: As mentioned before, the one big plus about having my own place would be that I could own a cat. That's pretty much it.]

I wasn't trying to have a go btw I'm autistic too.

up north is awesome if you mean the real north and not the midlands :p

in Newcastle I'm less than 15 miles from a few beaches and in almost every other direction less than a few miles from proper countryside and picturesque villages :D

This thread is littered - and I mean that - littered with people who just want to criticise. And most of them did nothing else.

This kind of mentality exists all over this forum. Best example of it was when the 9/11 conspiracy theorists had a thread and the majority who opposed their ideas all started posting belittling comments in bandwagon bullying fashion, without giving a second of consideration to what was posted.

Seems some people just enjoy having a pop at others, most likely repressed experiences of bullying at school they're acting out now. ;)

and a lot of people like to be over sensitive and take helpful or harmless comments as personal attacks

From my POV a lot of unnecessarily spiteful remarks exist in this thread. The OP has asked advice and has had the humility to share very personal details, clearly some have seized the opportunity to be condescending about it.

It's uncalled for. Slight extreme parallel, but if an alcoholic came for advice would people really be making light of their predicament. Ultimately you should still show respect for other peoples circumstances.

some will but that's the nature of GD you can't take every comment seriously

Your views on the renting thing are pretty ridiculous. You completely overlook the fact that the money you pay in rent is giving your life some benefit. It gives you independence, it allows you to own a cat, it means girls will no longer think you are weird since they aren't having to sleep in a basement.

Renting gives you freedom and it gives your parents their life back. I bet they never expected their son earning nearly 30k but dossing downstairs.
