SS, why don't you volunteer for a force for the time being?

Surely that depends how long the full time application process takes - I mean presumably it take a few weeks to get into the part time gig and a few months of part time training by which time, if he is accepted into a full time police role, he might be due to start his full time training anyway.

Coppers can make easy money, just keep all the on the spot fines/ bust a few dealers with cash in their pockets, or even sell the stash they have:D

You probably need to think bigger than that else what is the point - selling information to former colleagues working for private security companies, selling access to the police national computer, selling information to known criminals - though they may be a small number relatively speaking there are still plenty of bent coppers out there.

At 30? A bit late to the game for that now.

Absolute bobbins.

RAF:
Engineer officer, ABM, Police Officer, Regiment officer, Int officer, = all up to 36 yrs old. Legal officer & Flight Ops Officer, both up to 40yrs old
Navy: Logs officer 32, Training management officer 33,
Forget the Army, you're too old - but who wants to be a stinking pongo anyway :)

would probably work in the RAF... you're not going to become a pilot granted but the rest of them are more like civilians anyway

Could still apply for "pilot"....
17.5-30yrs cut off (mind you - they're so desperate they'd consider older)

Well after that post I've decided than when my 6 months are up (in 3 months time) I will apply for the Police again. It's something I have always wanted and it's the only thing that I keep coming back to and thinking I'll be happy doing. I just need to hope that either Kent or the MOD Police are still recruiting, or failing that Sussex maybe.

I need to have a think about things I can do in the next few months so I can better answer a specific question on the application, which is something along the lines of "what have you done since your last application to better prepare yourself for the role?"

Learn python (low barrier to entry) and cloud computing. Take an AWS certification (take udemy courses, take architect and devops associate). Then go find a job with a consultancy or managed services provider - probably get about £30k. Excellent prospects from there in a rapidly expanding market. Done.

I know loads of people who didn't get in first time. I think it's a way to ensure they are recruiting the most dedicated people.

Do think about that question too as I reckon your answer could make a big difference. Good luck!

We should do a careers/ business/ stuff thread. Although it might class as advertising your own stuff in some cases, which is a shame as I think a lot of people have great input here and could help each other.

I love the principle but the reality would be:

Overclockers UK Forums > Life > General Discussion > I'm in 1st Line [thing] > How do I make a million a day plox?

They'd still be unironically great threads though
