What i meant was that real-time rendering will show up jaggies without AA or AF, considering how many edges etc there are in the image.

Started to play X3 yesterday!!

Its not too n00b friendly but after reading through a few guides on egosoft (real helpful bunch btw) I'm now on my way to conquering the galaxy

Heres my Mercury on her first trading mission!

More screenies to come later, when I can drag myself away from this game!!

Check out the Paranid Demiter Super Frighter, personnal favourite of mine, got 12 of those as universal traders at the moment, getting ready to buy another 3.

If your strapped for cash, the Paranid Demiter Miner, is a cheaper but still very nice TS

What fps do you get with that? Is it running in DX9 mode?

Brecourt kills my fps with 16xAF

(i don't have the X1800 yet, still on my 6600gt's)

DX9 mode all the way. FPS around 50 - 60. When it's extremely atmospheric it goes down to 45 minimum, but that's very playable.

(Not at all overclocked either. Well chuffed

)

Edit: I'll tell you what. I missed around 12 months worth of updates from ATi, with the drivers and catalyst control centres. Today, when I decided to update I cranked everything up and it's running a dream. It may be due to the latest drivers I have.

Nice. I can't run COD2 multiplayer in DX9, the fps gets too low for me to play properly.

45 is playable to you? My main rig died so i had to play on my old rig and was getting <70 fps on that and i couldn't play at all. By the time i saw enemies i was dead got a few lucky thompson spray kills that
is all.

I feel the need for atleast 120 fps to play confortably, everything seems smooth enough with about that amount although im used to around 200 constant.

That sounds ridiculous (no offence) but im sure that no one can honestly say they can see a difference in FPS between 40/50ish and above.

iirc the human eye can't detect anything over 24 fps
