RE: Quake 4.
Yeah it's pretty cool game, I can't really say why, but it's addictive. But just when I think to myself, "right I'll save it and come off now" I always find myself going through one more door and blasting some more Strogg away. Lol.
Anyways,

Just had a scout round and found it on the "Best Of" series and it was just 7.99, should be here wednesday
Can you do custom res on it, I had a few problems with the Doom3 demo to get it to run the res of my 26inch Samsung TV. (1360x768)
Bargain at 7.99. Well worth it.
You can do custom res, there is a .cfg file under Quake4\q4base directory. So I'd assume you can just alter the 1280x1024 or what have you listed for whatever you wanted.

Firegod. what mods are you using with quake 4. im tempted to reinstall (for about the 5th time) never got past about the 5 checkpoint! oh, does it use duel core by default?
I think with the latest patch, there is an option under the Advanced part of the menu for Dual Core "Yes/No". Mine iirc is greyed out. So I think the possibility is there, yeah.
Like Sunlitsix has said, the GTX mod is cool. I've decided to use (this time round)...
- CorpsStay & Self-Shadow MOD
- Parallex Mapping MOD
Unforunately, I like two other mods, one being the "Brilliant Highlights MOD" and the other the "Relief Mapping MOD". However, if I want to use the "Parallex MOD" I can't use the other two shader MOD's listed before (Can use CorpsStay however).
But what the Parallex MOD does (similar to the GTX MOD)
(Parallex Mapping - Taken from the Readme)
Parallax Mapping Engine 2.0 is a mod that implements
parallax mapping technology into Quake 4. For those
who do not know, parallax mapping is an advanced
graphical technology used in next-generation titles
such as Unreal Tournament 2007 and Perfect Dark Zero.
It is also known as "virtual displacement mapping"
or "offset mapping."
This technology adapts to the player's angle of view
and offsets surfaces, thus simulating physical
displacements on the ground, wall, etc. This results
in a fuller 3D experience.
Here is where I got them all from:-

Cheers.
