The Air Rifles & Pistols thread

Any help? I've got a FX Typhoon .177 and i'm trying to get one of their 10 shot manual magazines which they don't appear to make anymore (gun is quite old). Any ideas of places that i could try and get hold on one. Part number is MG065

Hi,

I have a Kral Puncher PCP air rifle, mainly used for indoor target shooting, which I am now finding rather too heavy.

Any recommendations please for a lighter PCP rifle, preferably a 'traditional, rather than bullpup style, but possibly with a synthetic stock to help keep the weight down?

My preference is for .177 calibre and I would like one with a magazine of at least 10 shot capacity... and it must have a built in pressure gauge!

I have seen some as light as 2.2 Kg (4.85 lbs) but this is probably being a bit too hopeful.

Any suggestions guys? (... or girls!)

My brother has the hw110 which has a synthetic stock and 10 shot magazine. It's not much lighter than the Kral at 3.2kg but it doesn't feel heavy to hold as it shoulders lovely.

Very accurate and has a lovely side lever cocking action. Has the built in gauge you are after as well. :)

The Puncher is 3.5kg. Looking at the BSA range the Scorpion SE is 3.1kg so not a real weight saving.
The BSA Ultra SE is lighter at 2.5kg and comes with 10 shots and a pressure gauge. It also comes in a synthetic stock.

I have the single shot version which despite my large frame I find myself using as my primary gun, despite having other larger guns available.

Just crossgraded my Hamerli 850 to a BSA R10 mk2. So far I'm pretty amazed, it's a LOT more accurate than the previous gun. Don't know if I used the 'wrong' pellets, but with the BSA I can group in a 50p coin at about 30 meters without issues. I also crossgraded from .177 to .22 as I do a bit of hunting these days. When I bought the hammerli I was just plinking.

Nice, have you fired it? Looks like a well made bit of kit. I don't know if its worth anything, its in great condition for if it is though.

Your best bet would be to ask on one of the airgun forums, someone is bound to know on there.

Edit; I think you might be looking at £500+ as its a very rare pistol. http://www.airgunbbs.com/showthread.php?594607-Value-of-working-Tell-Model-3

It fires perfectly, think my Grandad hadn't fired it for years. Just found a very old flare gun (not so exciting) of his but it has no marking to identify it.

Careful, as it might be too powerful, as these weren't regulated as tightly as the newer ones. If too powerful, it might be illegal to own (section 5)...

I inherited one of these (well not THAT model but something similar) recently, and it was *just* under the legal limit... It was also worth ~500 too!

Thought i'd revive this old thread rather than start a new one. I'm just getting back into it after what must be 12-13+ years, back then it was mostly back garden plinking and minor pest control on one of my friends family property with sketchy old break barrel springers.
Had such a strong pull to get back into shooting again after getting hands on a couple of my mates rifles recently, played around with a Logun Mk2 Professional in .177 and an Air Arms s410 classic in .22. I was so won over by the Air Arms that I dropped a bit of money on a new AA s410 Superlite full Length in hunter green (Non FAC). Should get my hands on it on Saturday afternoon and cannot wait.

Do we have anyone still active in the North Yorkshire area? Both myself and my mate are looking to join a local club with access to Indoor/Outdoor at 25m+, somewhere with FT/HFT range would be nice. Wondering if any of you kind gents would have any suggestions in Catterick/Darlo/NorthAllerton/Richmond sort of area, Dont mind travelling as long as its not too far (30m drive max). Neither of us are looking to get serious into competitions or such, we are just looking for a friendly relaxed club.

Honestly couldnt be happier, got the rifle last weekend, got it built up and zeroed on AA Diabolo Fields on the Saturday and headed up to Bob Dunkleys range near Hartlepool on Sunday to confirm all was well/bed in seals and such, conditions were far from ideal, it was bitterly cold with a very stiff right-left wind gusting 20+Mph at the beginning. Got a good 500 pellets down the range, kept it to 30yd for most of it due to conditions but despite the challenging conditions could still put pellet on top of pellet. On the few occasions that i reached out further (80+) it was quite satisfying to easily find the point of aim in worsening conditions. All in all i'm extremely impressed with the consistent accuracy of modern PCP, you could almost describe it as clinical!

I think next step is to upgrade the optics, as i'm not entirely impressed by the mountmaster, although a lot of scope for £50, it still leaves a lot to be desired, dosnt quite have the FoV that i want and it suffers when it comes to clarity and DoF, when placed side by side with its (approx) bigger brother the Panamax, you can quite clearly see where the money is invested in the more expensive optic.

Got a hw110 today. Been waiting months. Can't wait till the weekend.

Out of interest what scope did you go for?

About the pull the trigger on one (FAC .22) but a little unsure which scope to go for. Been using a 3-9 Hawke, but need a little more than that, targets will be circa 50yards away.

A bit of a random one but can anyone recommend where I could pick up a cheap / 2nd hand air rifle easily and legally? Purpose is to use to get rid of a couple of large rats that keep appearing in the garden (I live next to a brook). Pest control have been out a few times but they keep coming back so figured I'd invest in a long term solution.
Just needs to be powerful and accurate enough for purpose, no need for any bells and whistles. I obviously don't have any kind of licence so power to be capped accordingly. Range, approx 15m.

Thanks

There are a couple of good forums Airgunbbs and Airgunforum with active selling pages :-)
