*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Ahhh yes, that explains it.

I was frantically searching on iFixit thinking I'd gone mad :/

16GB wifi.

Not intending to put any music on it so hopefully should be enough space.

Anyone know if a travel adapter will work on the US charger plug?

The charger is 110-240v input so an adapter is fine, the only actuall difference between UK and US spec is the plug bit that locks to the transformer. When I get back to the UK I will be using my iPhone plug bit on the iPad transformer, as I don't use the iPhone charger.

Just buy a new iPhone charging plug, it's only converting 240V to 5V via USB.

Also looks better than having a travel adaptor plugged in 24/7.

The iPad transformer is what apple call a '10w', it is not the same as the iphone transformer it supplies a larger current inline with the larger battery.

This is what I was getting at. Although I didn't realise the iPad requires more current.

(Use the plug off the iPhone charger).

Engadget now reporting end of may for international launch due to the demand issues in the USA

I hate to say I told you so, but it was obvious this was going to happen with Apple giving the USA all the supply :mad:

eBay is looking more and more tempting.

Engadget said:
.. the Cupertino brain trust urges its international audience to look forward to May 10, which is when availability and pricing for the rest of the world will be specified.

Seriously? May 10th?

Although some good news.. they may be doing pre-orders for the international launch according to the Apple PR release.

Apple PR said:
Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10.

I'm seriously tempted to now using Bundlebox, I just don't think I can trust Ebay.

I've seen this site mentioned before, but how do you pay for the product on the Apple US store?

Don't you need a US credit /debit card?

If they won't accept your UK card then they can purchase on your behalf, not sure exactly how this works but this is from their fAQ.

# Help! The website I want to buy from only accepts USA credit cards only. Can you buy on my behalf?

* Yes, just tell us what you would like and we can buy the item on your behalf.

You have to pay 10% of the puchase price in fees on top.

Loads of people on macrumors have used bundlebox without issues.

Aye, just saw that as I was browsing the site.

Based on dimensions of the packaging, and a package weight of 1Kg the bundlebox site estimates a shipping cost of £128.00

If you were to buy the 64GB iPad at $699 + the shipping it works out as £580.82.

May 10th?! Oh woe is me! That's bang middle of the pay month, I'll be skint again! Do they charge your card straight away or when it ships?
