*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

I just found out that the Apple care protection plan doesn't cover accidental damage, so I was wondering if there was any other way i can insure my iPad as i am pretty reckless with gadgets :)

I'd be interested to find out this too. I'm going to speak to NatWest who will be providing me with my iPhone insurance. They do say they can cover a "PDA" but I'm unsure as to whether the iPad would be included in that description.

Also, are there any reports of problems with Wi-Fi? My iPad really struggles when I'm at home connected via Wi-Fi, it sometimes won't load pages and I have to refresh the page a few times before it shows up. Also the battery seems to drain very quickly when Wi-Fi is enabled. Today I've had it connected via 3G since 8.30AM and it's still sitting on 94% battery, with Wi-Fi on a normal day, it'll be at about 80% now

Odd and the wrong way round, 3g drains it quicker, check your router/reset your router, it sounds like its not working right.

I was having the wifi issue and i had to change my router settings from wireless N to wireless b/g. When i contacted O2 they said it was due to the iPad not connecting to the router correctly and they are working on a fix with Apple.

Already done that a few times, I can't figure out what's causing it. If I plug in via USB, it doesn't charge the battery, but does it sustain the current power at all?

That may be a problem, I've got the router set to run using wireless N as there are a few other laptops on the network running through Wi-Fi. I'll try disabling it and see how it goes.

Thanks.

Plugging the iPad into a normal USB doesn't charge the battery as it requires 10w which a standard usb port can't do :)

I hope you don't try and get insurance using that username. If I were an insurance broker I'd certainly think twice.

Hey folks I just picked up my 64GB 3G iPAD this evening
and its awesome!. I wonder if you folks can give me some advice?
I am looking to buy a smallish messenger back to put it in,
one thats only a bit bigger than the ipad itself, does anyone
have any ideas about which one to get?

I got one of these.

Put the iPad in a case, and just throw it in. No one will know you have an iPad. It's a little bigger than the iPad, but not a lot, it just fit a magazine for size compassion.

Being real leather it will age well and last forever.

does anyone know if the apple store will fit the protective screens
for you?.

been using a snugg ipad case that i got of the jungle site and i have to say its awesome, kept it nice and secure in all my travels, well pleased with it

Is it just me or is the YouTube app useless at streaming HD content? I've noticed this on the iPhone 4 though as well. Is it simple that the hardware specs simply aren't up to scratch? I can see the ram being an issue and it's definitely not my wifi.
