tbh no hardware maker worth a damn has made a android tablet so im still out on them in general. tbh with a few tweaks to widgets i cant see many problems with android on a tablet.

the only reason the ipad is joked about as a big iphone is the form factor and the OS...and the hardware....lol

if it ran OSX the distinction would be far more significant (and if we are honest more useful in general)

If it ran OSX people will complain about...

Battery life, it wont last 10 hours like the one does now.
They want higher res, where the current res on it is fine in my opinion.
The cost will go up too due to being OSX.
It will be slower, running OSX on 256mb ram, 1GHZ CPU....

I really got to ask, why do people want a tablet run like a desktop or a laptop? If you want that then why are you not getting a laptop instead? They make one, its call the MacBook air.
 
Yea i dont get why people are trying to compare it to a laptop.

Its not a laptop and it will never replace one.

I use mine as a large multimedia player
 
It's replaced my laptop. I haven't booted it up since I got the iPad on launch day, well the day before, and I doubt I'll use it again.

The iPad will never replace my desktop.
 
I love, LOVE, my iPad. It needs iOS 4 badly, however. It feels ancient without it. I keep double pressing the home button and quitting apps.

A couple of things I find funny though. You can view all your Videos in the iPod app, but it then launches the video's app. Why have iTunes display them at all? Conversely - why have the separate videos app at all? iPod on the iPad is more like a mini iTunes. iTunes on the desktop play's video, so why not have iPod app play the video? Also there is no separate Videos app on the iPhone, iPod plays videos...

Just to carry this all on why is the iPod app still called iPod? It looks more like iTunes. Why still a separate app for the music store? Why not combine the store app and iPod app into one and just call it iTunes? iBooks does this and it works really nicely.

I got a load of episodes of stuff i want to add to my ipad all in avi format.


Any good batch converters i can use to get them all converted in one go? Im using windows

i was playing with a friends ip4 and kept making the same mistake, itunes ''doh'' then ipod lol, seems illogical to me.
 
Argh, I'm torn over whether or not to get one of these. If I did I'd probably go for the 32 or 64gb one but I just decide if I can justify the purchase.
 
Tell me about it I've been I'm getting one I'm not getting one for a month now.


Initially I only wanted an ereader but thought hmmm games and web surfing would be cool.

Now the new kindle was announced so haven't a clue.
 
I've decided to go the case route and not bother with screen protectors... what are people running?

There seems to be quite a lot of choice. I guess my requirements are:

* Not too expensive
* Good looking (seems a shame to put such a nice looking device into one)
* Possibly multiple viewing angles
* Available in the UK

Maybe people running with cases could take some pics? :)

Will post some pics for you tomorrow but am using a snugg case that I got of the rainforest has been perfect for me and was only £30 odd

Thanks. Just been watching this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2Ffznui4rs and I quite like the last one he reviews (the one with the elastic).

Also very interesting point that the part of the case you put on the surface then gets put straight against the screen. Something I hadn't thought about that effects most cases...

I must admit I love the Apple iPad case; out of all the cases I tried it's the only one with corner protection which was key for me as i keep it in my rucksack. It's also fairly solidly built, but a tad overpriced.

The only down sides are it needs cleaning more darn often than the ipads fingerprint magnetic screen and also the fact the the cover doesn't secure closed.
 
another one for the Snugg here, don't think you can go wrong for the price tbh. Build quality is good and has multiple stand options.
 
Just found the yoobao V3 (with the grooves), this looks really nice... (not quite sure about the clips to hold it in though).
