*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Just got the camera connection kit....... what a pile of poo. Going on the bay me thinks.

What it does:
Allows transfer of pics from SD card to iPad (most of the time)

What it doesn't do:
Work with iPhone4
Work with the iPad some of the time (comes up with accessory unsupported and won't work until I reboot the iPad)
Allow opening of the images directly from the SD card
Allow transfer of edited images back to the SD card
USB part doesn't work with my Fuji HS10

If the image transfer bit worked 100% of the time, it might be useful from time to time while out taking pictures, but the inability to open images from the card/camera directly is just crap and makes a mockery of Apple's positioning of the product as a photographer's tool.

shame i was tempted to pick one one :( cheers for the warning

I ordered the case I mentioned a couple of pages back, will let you know how it is.

Anyone using proswitcher/multitasking on their jailbroken iPad? If so... anygood? :)

Interested in this too...

One thing though, I've seen some Applications run out of memory.... and thinking about it the iPad only has 256MB compared with 512MB in the iPhone 4.... so surely multitasking isn't going to be too great if I'm managing to get problems without!?

it can play music whilst i surf, stay logged into MSN while i am on another app....thats all the multi tasking i need.

Yeah, I'm guessing as long as you don't go silly it'll be fine.

To be honest, I would probably only want to run 2-3 apps at the same time. It's probably the only reason I would jailbreak at the moment.

Lol... a guy on my msn list (swedish guy)
Was like "LOL" im like ? My msn name had Online with IM+ in it.

he goes iPad lol.... a 500 euro device that doesn't make calls LOL

I'm like why the hell would you want to make calls on an iPad.. i have a phone for that..

Not sure if it even makes any sort of calls like skype? Found out it does, app is only for iPhone though it works.

He's the only person i've actually hear though laugh at the iPad because it can't make calls..

iPad Borked

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Turned iPad on today (I'd had it off overnight so it didn't bong with emails). Used it for a minute surfing the internet and then set it playing iPod music.

After about 5 minutes of playing music it has just decided to reboot. Took about 3 minutes to reboot!

Erm. What happen?

End of the day it's still a computer and will crash. I've had one or two reboots since I got mine the day before official launch day.

Oh I know it'll crash, I've seen it run out of RAM a few times. But this was literally 5 minutes of iPod, that's it.

Slightly nervous if anything ever does happen to it. It's a USA one (I got it before UK launch too) and knowing my luck they'll find an excuse not to warranty it!

Picked up my Yoobao v3 case this morning. First impressions, it's pretty good!

Pros:

* Multiple viewing angles sturdy and very usable
* Quality seems nice enough for the price
* Access to all ports

Cons:

*The clip to close the case is a little stiff, hopefully this will ease over time
*It weighs around 300g (apparently the apple case is 170g) bringing the whole weight up to around 1.05kg inhand.

Morning...

Love that case where did you buy that from please?

How is the ipad with iplayer or 4oD? I saw that there is an iplayer app but it's not meant to be very good? I've been thinking of getting one to replace a little samsung laptop and I think it will do fine at everything but I'd want it to be able to be good with iplayer/4oD for catching up with tv shows in bed :)

You don't need an app for iPlayer, just going to the website puts it in the correct "mode" for the iPad. It works extremely well.

4OD won't work because they use flash to deliver the video, although there were rumours they were going to change that or make a specific app.

I'm coming over to the UK at the end of this week and want to buy a couple of iPads from one of the Apple stores in London. Probably 32Gb 3G. Does anyone know what the stocks are like? Do they still get sold as soon as they are in stock or will I be ok to just turn up and buy?
