Can you get an iPad on a contract? or do you have to buy them for 400 odd quid?>
Yer.. quite a bit. I think its worth it though, but they need more frequent updatesBlimey, iPad version is expensive isn't it?

No luck here. None of the usb 2 ports on my custom PC charge the iPad fullstop, and as my mobo is a 2007 AWD9-MAX, there hasn't been bios upgrades in years. I've got a sneaky suspicion it's just Win7 being typically rubbish. I'll dual boot into Vista at some point to test this theory out. Most USB ports will not charge it unless the pad is in idle mode.

I've got to charge the thing off the mains it seems with the pad on the floor :/
/sighThe iPhone usb charge cable is too short to properly reach my desk lol. I'll look into a proper solution by the end of the week![]()
Well I'm taking it you mean iPad and not iPod
Well the capacity is 14GB (iTunes reading)
Applications vary in size. My smallest applications are things like SpliBrowser, facebook. These are under 1MB. My biggest application is 443MB, 396,362,314,276,215,213,193,183,173,127,127,110,102. Those are obviously all games. *I don't have then all synced*
The OS is fine in my opinion. Browsing the web is great, i have a tiny problem with the music application but its tiny and being fussy.. etc etc. I did jailbreak though just because then I can do MORE. The multitasking for a start, hiding applications is something rather important for me. Being able to download files (though I'm not sure if there's an app store app which can do this now) earlier i downloaded a South Park episode from a website. Then other things like SBSettings so i can change my brightness quickly and easily, wi-fi on and off. But the default OS is fine but its nice to customise stuff a bit. Would be nice if we could delete apple apps which we don't use such as I won't ever use contacts (not sure if there's the weather on there or not... for some reason they didn't add things like clock and calculator'
oh okActually I did mean iPod - I was trying to make a comparison to how much the iPod os/firmware uses of the advertised size, compared to the iPad with a more rich os/abilities but also more likely to run out (as expansion is impossilbe)![]()
I swear there's applications which do this though? But i think at the moment they need to be wireless printers so can't be from a usb one. Can't see that much use for it myself. If we can print photos then it will be coolOK, so the beta of iOS 4.2 is pretty neat. I'm not usually one for getting excited about printing, but just using a shared USB printer - it's scary-easy!
Multi-tasking works as expected, though not quite as fluid as on the iP4. Hopefully that's the beta OS and not the hardware!
Looking forward to future betas!
EDIT: Did a video of the printing - http://www.the-iblog.com/2010/09/15/ios-4-2-printing-from-an-ipad-video
Only if a developer 'adds your iPad' to his account. Not sure how that all works out.Anywhere I can get hold of the Beta without paying for dev access?
oh ok

Hoping 4.2 gets jailbroken. I will hopefully be able to disable apples MT and use backgrounder
Not sure what else is in the update.. games centre, um
