*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Ended up ordering direct from Apple once my credit card went through and having it shipped via Bundlebox - did it yesterday afternoon.

Ahh right. I am tempted to do that.

I rung my bank during work and they had no knowledge of a failed transaction.. then they called me when I got home, so I didn't have the energy to replace the order on Apple.com.

Viaddress cancelled my concierge order anyway, so I'll give this a miss.

Even if you guys could get one, i doubt it'll come for a while with the way the airports are!

I am a little concerned about the weight of this thing though, i dunno how comfortable it is to handhold it for long periods without resting it on my lap.

Also, does anyone know when is the release date for the 3G version in the UK? Rough idea?

Looks like I'll be waiting for the UK release now, nice of them to ship the dock but then cancel the order for the iPad and the mail makes no sense as I only ordered one! :(

Thank you for your recent Apple order.

If anyone has a dock they don't want I would be interested if it's around £30 delivered? Not sure how much they work out at with bbox but eBay is silly prices for a chunk of plastic.

You just turn your phone into an access point. The phone needs wifi. A lot of phones can do it. Depends on the phone and how far your willing to go(hacks etc).

Edit:

According to a post by Steve Job, you will not be able to tether a standard iphone to the ipad.

Though it may be possible with jailbroken phones.

what he said.

So any Apple fan who has a perfectly good iPhone 3G/3Gs has to buy the 3G version of the iPad if they want 3G connectivity. Jeez, talk about cynical... I suppose that's what you get when you believe you have "fans" rather than "customers".

So unexpectedly I may have an iPad on the way.

I say "may" because the other party involved has a reputation for not being the most reliable person on the planet!

A friend who is on holiday in the USA emailed me last week asking about the iPad and saying whether he should get one. I replied giving the pros and cons and saying that if I had the cash available right now then I'd be asking him to bring me one back (I don't object too much to paying the USA price but the rumoured UK prices are too high).

He's picked up one for himself and has told me that he should get my one before he comes back home. His flight has been delayed until next Friday at the earliest so he has plenty of time!
