*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Got to admit, I didn't mind the change with the rotation lark early on in when I was using the 4.2GM but now it just cheeses me off. It's just the whole double press side of things - there are times when you overdo it and double click in, and immediately out of the task drawer - that's when the FFFUUU emerges.

Just home from Hong Kong with a shiney new ipad, my first apple device

Its still on 3.2.2 but i am keen to jailbreak, whats my options, donwloading itunes for a starter i guess

Can jailbreak on that and the new one. New one is tethered so run into problems if the iPad needs restarting. What do you want from jailbreaking?

Well I rang up returning my iPad case as faulty. Got a email a few days after with RMA number. Though another day later (just now) I got an email:

Hi Oliver,

Thank you for contacting the Apple Online Store.

I have some news about the return you requested. I have been informed by our returns team that a refund for your case was issued earlier today, so there is no need to return it. You should receive this refund within 3-7 business days back to the card that was used to process the order.
So in the last month I've got a free iPad case and free PC Black ops- returned as faulty and can still play hehe. Well it does crash often so!

I got my iPad about 5 days ago and I am loving so far. I have actually just had a chance to do about an hour long session of web surfing just sat on the couch this morning and honestly it is quicker to use then my PC or iMac or even Macbook.

Love it, even got my dad to use it 15 mins today, and after the initial how do you turn it on phase he was using it as good as I was. :D :)

Whatever yu do id wait and make sure they fix the wifi bug on the new software version, because at the moment its getting to the point where its n useable:(
Well it's not for everyone and of course they will fix it.

Wonder if a restore and not using a backup would fix it?

(I don't have the problem)

I have 4 mates all with the problem as well as myself. Its all over the ipad forums and no one really has a permenent fix. Its just so annoying . Apart from tha IPAD is brilliant. On a side note anyone got a decent piush messanger app?

I've only just got mine. And the only fix I have found so far is going to settings and changing your ip address by 1 digit and go back and your back web browsing. It is intermittent, and for me its happens when I have wifi open/been used by an app and then the ipad goes to sleep but when I turn it on wifi is just dead. :(

Restore won't always help. I've done a heap of research on this, and can only conclude that Apple have, for some reason used different wifi boards on various iPads. Maybe from the same company but with some variances.

I've even got me a new router, a draytek and that hasn't had any affect either. Still have to reset network settings multiple times a day, as reboots don't always fix the issue.

Quite interested in the iPad, but recently heard there is an iPad 2 coming out soon (March/April 2011?) and was wondering is there any info on hardware specs, especially will it have more ram, webcam and USB, can anybody shed any light on this for this iPad ignoramus?

Thanks...

Likely 12 months cycle, meaning April/May release in the UK.

Specs unknown. They never are. Apple never release specs prior to launch.

We can only guess.

One thing with the wifi problem. I decided to try a used Airport Extreme - the older cone shaped one.
Solved the problem in one go! Has not lost connection, timed out etc since. Just added it as an access point off my main router. Not ideal but for £20 makes it much better to use!

Neither have I and out of the six iPads being used in my department at work, nobody has reported any wifi issues at all.

I wonder if it was maybe a particular batch? Or it could just be down to the router used as I had similar issues with my 4th gen iPod.

Also, what firmware version are the work ones running? I didn't really have many issues until I added 3.2.2 and then 4.2.1 just made it worse.
