*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

I wonder if it was maybe a particular batch? Or it could just be down to the router used as I had similar issues with my 4th gen iPod.

Also, what firmware version are the work ones running? I didn't really have many issues until I added 3.2.2 and then 4.2.1 just made it worse.

I haven't had any issues with the wireless on mine :). Regarding batches, well mines a 64GB 3G that I bought in America before they were out here :p, so it's one of the first.

Someone did tell me though that iOS has some quirks with wireless, and that it's pretty naff at switching between Access Points (it'll stick with the original AP even when there's a far stronger one now available).

Sorry to revive this otherwise dormant thread! In the spirit of the new year I am looking to start saving money and as part of this am trying to lower the costs on my iPad Data tariff.
First of all, is it possible to see how much data I use per month over the Three 3G tariff I have.
Secondly, I know I can reduce the tariff to 1gb for 7.50, but I seem to remember a tariff being mentioned when you call 3 to cancel. But I cannot find it for the life of me, I know it was in this thread somewhere!

I want to keep the Three but need to better understand how much of the connection I use, I'm certain I use nowhere near 10gb!

Thanks for your help guys.

I think somebody said if you are on the 1 gig tariff and ring 3 to cancel you will be offered 5 gig for the same money. Not confirmed that myself though, I'm not even using my 1 gig allowance currently.

I was on the 5GB pay monthly (but I can cancel whenever) for £15 a month and rang up and it dropped to £7.50. =p

I tried an iPad for the first time today, and was really impressed, the only other Apple product I own is an iPod classic.

I'm curious - after reading through 20 of this thread's 48 pages, how many of those who bought an iPad last year are still using it much?

I got mine on release, and still use it regularly. I usually take it to work to watch movies on and play the odd game (during my breaks of course!!). I don't use it it home as much, as I have my mac here so theres no real need, other than chilling out in bed and what have you.

Although I have the 3G version with a none expiring SIM card Im awaiting to see if the 'personal hotspot' option is going to make it to iOS as rumoured, then I would use it a lot more for general browsing and internet related stuff whilst out and about as the screen size is obviously so much better than the iphone (size wise) which gets tiresome browsing on it after a while.

Its also nice

Mine is heavily used, even though I have this 13" uMacbook.
The fact that the battery lasts an absolute age, and that it is an always on device means that I prefer to just pick it up and browse/use apps as opposed to firing up this Macbook.

That's what I'd use it for mainly, I think it'd actually get me away from this PC chair too!

Thanks for replying guys, and yes, it is nice :p

Everyday! Particularly when travelling, just so handy. This morning I watched buffy the vampire slayer while my colleague drove, then I browsed the net. Then when I took over driving I used my iPad as a sat nav and now I'm lazing on the sofa reading ocuk while watching a film.

iOS 4.3: Option for rotation lock or mute switch - nice Using jailbreak anyway and a cydia app so it's the way it used to be. But it's not that polished

4 finger pinch to go to home screen and such, rather handy

Having an iphone makes me appreciate the iPad a whole lot more. Also I can literally barely get a look in as my kids and gf are on the ipad constantly.

Anyway -- As I haven't been able to get near it for long enough it's still running 3.2.2 limerain jailbroke. I would like to put ios4 on it some questions:

1 Do I just update via itunes and it'll update - ?
2 Will I lose my jailbreak?
3 If I re jailbreak, will all my jailbroke apps (cydia tools etc) and things be there or do I have to set it all up again?
4 I installed categories to get around the lack of folders - is it best to wipe and start again?
5 Am I just better off waiting for IOS 4.3 and then performing full restore and then jailbreak?
6 Can I sync the ipad between my mac (current setup) AND my PC laptop as the missus would like to add pictures and music to it without using my mac. Or do I have to exclusively choose 'one computer' to use?
7. If I sync it to my laptop ill it be able to 'restore' (if that is required to put 4.3 on? (It has never been plugged into my laptop.

thanks in advance

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) set up gain, there are cydia applications though which save all your sources etc. So you can download that cydia app again and then click restore and it should try to DL most apps again. Settings probably lost though
4) well this will go back to Q2. You had to update, therefore no categories
5) Umm... could be months away
6) I think one, otherwise problems possibly
7) /shrugs

whats the latest news on the next ipad ??

Got an ipad sized wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket, and i'm convincing myself that it would be stupid to buy a current gen ipad merely weeks before the next one is out, but me and my wife both already have iphone 4s each, so the camera is an entirely pointless addition for us.

Wondering what else we would actually benefit from apart from styling changes and a higher resolution screen. But given the existing one looks stunning, i'm not so sure its worth the wait ....

Has there been any official news about the spec on the next gen?
