Posting this from the iPad. It is truly a fantastic device. I just can't put it down. Feels great in hands, great on lap, great in bed etc.

Some of the apps are amazing and im sure they will get better over time.

Screen rotation lock is incredibly incredibly useful!!!!

If anybody wants any pictures of something then let me know. These forums look great and the whole Internet experience just blows anything before it away. I love this thing lol.

Absolutely love it :)

It has totally replaced my laptop. The only thing missing is iWork for the iPad as I can't get it until they realease it for the UK app store and BBC iplayer.

I can type as fast as a normal keyboard on mine.
 
how much does it heat up?

whats the transfer rate like between pc and ipad?

is there any kind of stand you can have it on if you take it out with you and want to sit it upright on a desk for example?

what is the video support like? can it play mkv for example or do they need to be converted?

Numbers has one major flaw the moment in that you can import an excel
Spreadsheet but you cannot export an excel spreadsheet

I can answer some. I don't find it hot. Remarklable really. It gets warm but you will never feel the heat if you got it on your lap!

Transer rate is quick. Maxes out the USB bus I suspect.

You'd have to buy a stand. Wouldn't recommend the Apple one as it has sharp edges. There will be some coming out in a few weeks. Check out the A-Stand. Looks pretty good.

Not too sure about .mkv will probably need to be converted. Someone else can confirm. I've only had it for like 6 hours.

God damn the battery truly is great. :p

I can answer 2 of those. a lot of people are using plate stands very successfully and only cost a couple of £ and fold up compact.

For the video's you can stream off a PC using live conversion using air video (great app) or for video stored on the ipad you have to use H.264 in a .mov container. So conversion will be required (hand break etc.).

I want that dodocase but the shipping cost is half the cost of the product again. Oh and there is a six week wait lol. Any consensus on what the best case is yet? Any point in getting a screen protector? A part of me says done bother because I'll sell it and move to 2nd gen or 3rd gen well before the screen wears out.

It's really straightforward. I have two accounts. A uk one and a us one. I set up App store on my iPad to use my us account. I pay for stuff on my us account by getting a friend there to buy me iTunes gift vouchers. I download free and paid apps directly from my iPad. If I want to get an app from the uk store I simply log in to my uk account on iTunes and get whatever app I want and then sync my iPad to get the apps on to the iPad.

Any apps from the us store can get upgraded over the air from the iPad directly. Any apps from the uk store must currently be upgraded on the iTunes pc and then you just sync your iPad. Once the uk app store opens you can simply go in settings on your iPad to log in to the uk store to upgrade any apps you bought in the uk. Then you go back in to settings and sign in to the us account and upgrade the apps you got from the us store.
