*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

how does this £10 per month for unlimited internet deal work exactly? (sorry, haven't had PAYG for maybe 9 years...)

If on the 20th of a month you stick 10 quid in, does that give you 10 days of internet? or 30 days of internet?

Can you set it to take it from your card automatically to save the manual intervention?

Daft questions I'm sure

Can't see why not. The reason I use 3 though is the fact it's not on O2 (it's saturated at work on Saturdays, when I want to stream the football!) so I won't be bothering.

Yeah, I've heard good things about 3's coverage too but it can't hurt to order a couple of the O2 sims just in case.

Seems like there is a way to unlock the MiFi for free now also. GIYF on that one ;)

AFAIK when you top up £10 or more you get an extra 300 messages and unlimited data.

I've had a contract SIM my whole life, so I can't see there being a problem with timescales (not sure where you got the 10 days from).

Worst comes to worst, you'd get 30 days of data each time you top up.

Providing it's truly unlimited that would suit me tbh. Stick in £10 and off you go. Sign up on o2.co.uk and you'd be able to top up online too.

If anyone wants to read the smallprint, I'd be interested to see how it works myself :)

So with these 02 sims, you get the 2 free sims from the website (which I have), put them into a phone, top-up £10, take it out, cut it up and then put it in the iPad?

That right?

So come the end of the month and you want to put a £10 on what do you do?
You cant put that sim back in the phone as its been cut to fit the iPad.

Do you just order another 2 from the website every month or something?

Nope!

You don't have to topup via the SIM iteself. You can go to o2.co.uk/topup and type in the mobile number that you want to topup. :)

^^Some good points there but remember your fault 1 can be rectified ;) as it is now possible to do this.
Anyways i have now cancelled my 'pre order' as i can no longer see a proper reason for getting one and im just going to stick to my Ipod Touch i think :)..

Really!? In the apple store the geniuses said we would have to jailbreak it to do this. This is kind of a big thing for me, otherwise I would be sold, so any explanation would be very helpful.

Interesting I thought that you had to pay for it to be unlocked. A quick google found out what you were saying. So that's great news. I think 3 charged £15 for unlocking.

Aye it's cool to know just incase but I'm going to give 3's PAYG a chance first.

The Mifi arrived earlier so it's just charging. Says it needs 12 hours for the first charge :x

Right, I've dug around the T&Cs for the O2 SIMs..

http://freesim.o2.co.uk/terms/textandweb said:
To switch to Text and Web, send a free text message from your O2 phone with the keyword "TEXTANDWEB" to 21300. You will receive a text message within 24 hours to confirm that your current inclusive monthly allowance will be replaced with Text and Web. Text back "TEXTANDWEB STOP" if you want to STOP this tariff switch, otherwise your request will be processed within 48 hours.

Customers successfully transferring to Text and Web from another monthly inclusive allowance will not be activated until their next anniversary date, providing they have met the minimum top-up requirements.

By switching to Text and Web customers are agreeing to replace their current inclusive monthly allowance with Text and Web inclusive monthly allowance. Any unused allowances will be lost and will not rollover to your new tariff. Customers can only have one tariff's inclusive monthly allowance active at any time.

O2 reserves the right to remove, vary or amend any element of the Text and Web terms, If we amend any of these to your disadvantage we will notify you. Notice will be provided by text message. Changes will be effective immediately upon our having notified you.

Talkalot 08 terms and conditions also apply from 18th Feb 2008.

Unlimited allowances are subject to an excessive usage policy

Things to note:
  1. You can switch to this deal, if you already have a PAYG SIM.
  2. The data allowance is subject to EUP (everything I can find on their forums says 500MB :()
  3. Allowances run on a 30 period.
