*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

i cant believe they wont release the prices, i mean the US has had their prices since the announcement, I guess O2 and all the other networks are probably agreeing on a price to stop competition so they can maximise the profits, despite being illegal no one will do anything about it!

What a shock! o2 and other companies want to make a profit for all the work they do. What a horrible world we're living in.

I'm pretty sure o2 and others are investing heavily in their networks and they'll need to spend even more to upgrade it to be ready for 4G. But that doesn't mean 99.9% of customers should have to pay for the 0.01% that want to tether their laptops even though its against their contract to do so.

Same. My 32GB 3GS is staying with me until I've got an iPhone 4.

pah 3-4 months since i sold my 16gig 3g for cash to get this one......... tis been VERY hard using a cheapo £10 nokia :( . Cant complain got £350-400 for my 3g, had to sell it early otherwise i would got sweet fa for it. Roll on iphone 4

The explanation by o2 is just a PR thing. Would you rather them say "Hey we just want to charge you more now!"

One of my jobs is PR for IT at work and even I would refuse to print such crap! :D

If O2 are investing so heavily in their network then how come their 3G coverage and speed is so poor? I live in a city centre and get 2 bars of GPRS on O2 for crying out loud.

As a heavy data user (business O2 iPhone contract - no iPhone 4 for me :( ) I don't come close to using gigabytes per month. I question the statistics O2 have presented. More like they know their current network can't cope and rather than bite the bullet and cost and upgrade they will simply opt to get more profit for the shareholders by changing the tariffs. Especially now we can have background data transfer*.

* I wonder why this never bothered them on Android phones...

Well if their coverage and speed was perfect, they wouldn't need to invest and upgrade. The job would already be done.

I'm sure you're not going to try and suggest mobile networks aren't investing in their infrastructure?

3 days left calm down guys.. i was interesting how much it will cost in london to unlock it officialy on all carries as i am buying PAYG?

all i want is a iphone 3g or 3gs :D

You don't want a 3G as it has just been made end of life and will not support some of the new features in iOS4

Of course they're investing but as far as I can tell nowhere near enough to provide good consistent data speeds. Simply because they don't really make any money from data so there is no incentives to send a lot of money improving the data network to a point where it is of a decent standard.

The purchase price of access to the 3G spectrum didn't help and, of course, the geography of the UK.

They want to make their money on top of the price that the mobile operator vendors charge them. No harm in that.

However as a user and a customer I want a fair deal that results in a service that both (a) provides exceptional service and (b) meets my price point for the value it provides.

In the current economic climate, I will scrutinise the value more closely - that is just normal economics. Unfortunately that means the operators need to also pay attention to it.

To be honest I went through all my bills since I got my 3g and I'm rarely using over 200mb a month. Personally as has been mentioned above it'll annoy the people who abuse it and the rest of us won't really notice, it may improve network speeds which personally i'm all for. If i'm downloading large files i'm usually connected to a wifi network, bit of common sense really if your going to be using it for tethering then why not take that bolt on. An extra fiver (or is it 7.50?) isn't that much in the grand scheme of things.

Do the network providers get the phone on the 24th along with the apple store?

Got my iphone contract with unlimited internet will this change at any time? As i have had the contract since october

even for £100 ;)

I just wish they would hurry up and announce pricing already, I have to use this until I get the iPhone!

Just registered my interest in the iphone4 with Tmobile...seeing as my upgrade is due end of july so might as well upgrade to one depending on what they offer me. At the moment on the old flext50 tariff with a BB addon...comes around to £63 all in so am hoping they do me a good deal as my bills are usually around £100ish per month.

Saying that if i get one...ill probably sell it and make some money on it unless it really blows me away...highly unlikely lol.

Managed to drop my iPhone after 2 years without a single scratch on it :/ it skidded across rough tarmac after falling out the car, nice way to lose about £40-50 of value!

As someone who only cares about using the new iPhone for 3G internet getting the iPhone on PAYG with a £10/month Web & Wi-Fi bolt one (which presumably will be changed to be 500mb/month soon?) seems like the best and cheapest* option amongst all the providers. Or is there a similar option on one of the faster 3G networks?

*Of course I know this could change depending on what is revealed between now and the 24th.
