What AV do you use?

Avira is the one to go with, lite on system resources and great detection.

It was good, up until it played havoc with my shell extension menu a couple years back. I hope they fixed that since. I was a long time user too.

Switched to BitDefender, and that tanked my file system one day when I went to uninstall to try something else, had to recover the file-system files that were "missing" using command prompt.

AVAST has been consistently excellent, the current version is no different here. I've been using it since getting rid of the above two and have never had a single issue, I don't even know it's running until I glance at the system tray or it notifies me that something was blocked on a seemingly legit website or forum (usually a rogue ad or someone's dodgy sig).

Been using MSE and Defender since they came out and there fine
online scan with one of the so called better ones now and then as a backup just to check and never anything.
I certainly wouldn't pay for one again.
MSE/anti malwarebytes and common sense are all you really need.
These AV company's want you to believe its really easy to pick something up with scare tactics

If you don't believe the scare tactics why do you still run an online scan with one of the so called better ones now and then to be sure?

The detection rates with MSE is pretty poor by all accounts, if you're going to run a free AV then why not just use Avast? Would seem to offer better protection and still not costing you anything.
