Hmm looking at that list I'd say I've seen about third of them, some just dont appeal to me, some I've not paid much attention to and others I've not got round to.

Edit said:
Seen:
1. Angel Beats!
2. Bakemonogatari
3. Clannad
4. K-ON!
6. A Certain Magical Index
7. Toradora!
8. Haruhi
10. A Certain Scientific Railgun (not quite finished yet)
11. Ore no Imouto
12. Full Metal Alchemist (only the original, haven't watch Brotherhood yet)
21. Eureka Seven
23. Lucky Star
24. Black Lagoon
30. Elfen Lied
35. Shakugan no Shana
43. Naruto (my mate's an avid fan so I've been part forced to watch quite a lot of this)
45. Sousei no Aquarion

That said, there are others on the list I definately plan to take a look at, for example Basilisk, which has been sitting collecting dust on my shelf for about the last 6 months. There are a few on that list I've got sitting waiting to watch, but just not got round to watching yet.

I'm not massively surprised Spice and Wolf isn't listed as its a fairly marmite show, reviews are usually polar in the very good, or just not interested range haha, (I'm not the only one who visits this thread who likes it Andi :p) although I am surprised to see Imouto doing so well, as overall when I've seen fan polls its usually only got about 7/8 out of 10.

Also...Aquarion?! I know you didn't think it was that bad Andi, but I am rather surprised to see it making 'Best of...'

Also, as an observation rather than an argument, although I'm not a personal fan, I am surprised to see the absense of Deathnote in the list, as that was a real crossover hit about 5 years back, and Kanon as all the other Key drama's are present.

Mmm i don't think I'm really missing out, although i do want to watch Hidamari Sketch sometime.

Personally I like Hidamari Sketch, and have the third season currently on pre-order, but it's style is quite strange at times making it very much a series which you either like or hate.

It's nice to see that your "not seens" are pretty similar to mine. I would say that even if you skip the first couple of seasons of Nanoha then the third (StrikerS) is worth a watch. I would recommend Kamichu as well as a very laid back gentle series.

I know ... I'm just pulling your leg :D

I admit I am very surprised that Death Note didn't make the list. Personally it's not to my taste, (I haven't seen it and don't plan on doing so), but it always seemed to be popular. I suspect that Kanon just didn't make the cut as I know I'd find it hard to give the top 25 series I like and still include all of my favourites.

Looking at the feedback to that survery, it's a shame to see Mushishi so neglected on this forum.

I consider it possibly my favourite anime series of all. Certainly up there with the likes of Haibane Renmei, Kino's Journey, Dennou Coil, Kaiba, Lain, Moribito, Twelve Kingdoms for me.

I can't say I've consciously avoided that series, just not got around to watching it. If it's good then I'll have to give it a try at some point.

I've not seen much of that list, although the chances are i'm missing a couple that I've forgotten the Japanese names of :)
A couple of them are on pre-order at the moment/i'm waiting on a UK release.

Any Fate/Stay night fans here?

*raises hand* :)

Looking forward to F/Z, especially after knowing that Ufotable are behind it instead of studio DEEN.

If Ufotable's Kara no Kyoukai adaptations are anything to go by, this should be very good indeed.

best anime of the last decade (2001-2010)
38. Slam Dunk

Not sure why this is on that list, it aired in 1993! Definintely among the best shounen sports animes though.

Looks like NISA are going to finally release a non-premium edition of one of their releases in July. It appears that Wagnaria! (Working!) is going to get a normal release then (no big artbox or book).

I don't know why they are starting with that title instead of Toradora (for instance), which was released earlier, but it does appear given the speed Wagnaria! has been selling out they may have done a smaller initial premium run for it which may be a factor.

edit: Spoke to soon .... another bit of news from them today is that Toradora regular edition will be in two parts with the first released in August. There a bit more info a a shot of the regular Wagnaria! packaging here

edit2: Finished re-watching Macross Frontier earlier. Excellent sci-fi series with a great sound track and really good action. It has the sort of dogfights in it where you find your self swaying around as the participants fly around ... :)

Might have to get this, works out around £25,probably wait for it from UP though :)

Preordered that from UP back in January (when it wasn't a combo pack and was due to be released in March)

if that's dvd only and you're not bothered by the 'special edition' stuff you can get it for £15 at the rainforest (says october though....)

It's a combo pack, DVD and BD in a sturdy artbox. The October entry on Amazon will be the DVD only UK version.

Just had a closer look at my link...seems a bit confusing title on the webpage says
Rideback DVD/Blu-ray Complete Series

but below it says Media - DVD
Will wait till it is out on general release anyway :)
£36.66 on UP,:( bit of a price hike there :(

Funimation are only putting out Rideback collection in a BD/DVD Combo pack ... originally it was not solicited as such but during the time it was delayed Funi decided to switch to the combo packs which is probably why TRSI still have it down as DVD as a media type. There will be a LE (with the art box) first and then a standard release once that has sold out in more general packaging.

As for the price difference, with TRSI you appear to be getting 40% off, with UP 22% (from the RRP) ... but that's the extra you pay for (a) cheaper shipping to you, (b) not having to worry about customs charges and (c) being able to have it delivered to a non-credit card address.

The difference between that and the Amazon price is due to (a) the listing on UP being BD/DVD instead of just DVD and (b) the listing on UP having a nice solid artbox compared with (probably a normal DVD case with two disks in it) on the UK release.

Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick given the UK doesnt even have the DVD yet officially, so Blu if it happened was always likely to be region A :) Good excuse for me to grab a multiregion player [hardware one, my laptop isn't multiregion but it's so easy to hack the region code changes it's not even funny] ;)

That's because it is on sale at rightstuf the UP price tag is at least £10 lower then the actual RRP (RRP is $69.98 which currently equates to £43.20 ).

Multi-region players for the win :)

Finished watching Chobits on BD earlier. Great classic series and well worth a watch. Whether it's worth upgrading if you already have it? .... debatable given that it's an upscale. The menus were a lot nicer on the MVM DVD release and the image quality is not much of an upgrade.

Also watched My Neighbours the Yamadas on BD ... not my favourite of the Ghibli films with it's comic slice of life content and odd art style ... but reasonably enjoyable ...

I also received my copy of Kimi ni Todoke (movie) on BD. JP release so of course no subtitles. Nice package with a slip box over the BD. The BD has a cover in the manga style whilst the box is the same image with the principle actors. The set comes with art cards, a booklet about the film and a phone dangly thing which has a reproduction of the cherry blossom from the film and a case with two film frames (mine has the three main female characters in at the low table in Sawakos room when Yoshida is shouting at Sawako) on it. Nice :)
