Really liking Usagi Drop, probably the best show from the newest crop this season.

I also think Ushio from After Story has a new rival for cuteness in the form of Rin.

I agree, it seems a very nice adaptation so far. I've been collecting the English manga release (Bunny Drop) and I'd recommend that as well (first three volumes are out so far).

So far it's CRAP!

Watch Deadman Wonderland instead, trust me :D

I wouldn't say ao no exorcist is crap, it's not a serious anime, so it's one of those watch it while you're tired type things. Besides, if your friend likes Bleach he's hardly going to enjoy real anime :D

Yeah I must say I am also really enjoying Usagi Drop. Plus both the OP and ED I enjoy which always helped. Liking how it is from an adults perspective more.

Just finished Lucky Star this morning, pleased I left it later to watch as it mentions other animes a lot in it. I would feel that you would lose out if you hadn't especially watched The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Also watched the first Mawaru Penguindrum which seems decent so far, certainly intrigued by the series. Watched the first Idolm@ster, don't rate it really, but might watch it as a backup. Also similar feelings on Rou-Bu-Kyuu!

Yep, I like the OP quite a bit and the ED's ok for me. I do wonder at times who's going to be raising who out of the two main characters :)

Finished a re-watch of Asobi ni Ikuyo this evening (inc OVA). Watched the uncensored version, (which just uncensors a few bits of fanservice in a couple of episodes).

It's a nice fun little series and I would like to have one of the customised little 'droids. I'd forgotten about their shopping trip to Tokyo too, (been where they went (in real life the mall is a lot darker) and the station the ended up on was the only one I had issues with and had to ask for directions).

It's not intellectually stimulating but it's a good laugh.

No idea what I'll be watching this weekend at the moment.

Finished Basilisk this evening with my brother. Good series although not the speediest in terms of pacing. It reminds me of Black Hawk Down in that it is definitely good but due to the subject can be grueling and thus I won't rewatch it for quite some time.

Not quite sure what ill watch next but seeing as that's one of the family watches out the way and the next series will be me only the pace will certainly be higher.

Edit: Decided to take the 'lighter' option, having just finished Basilisk and watching Durarara as well. Started Omamori Himori. It's not particularly big or clever; and it's a harem show which usually goes hand in hand with not big (well...in some ways) or clever.

Gave me Shana-esque vibes going in, and tickled my enjoyment of fantasy/supernatural, but gotta say even a few episodes in I think this is going to be fairly forgettable if fun whilst it lasts. About the only thing noticeable is that, not entirely surprising given the seiyuu, the lead female sounds quite close at times to her Holo.

I've heard other things Ami Koshimizu's been in before and not always even realised it was her straight away, but, although not always the same, this time round the voice is distinctly close enough to notice.

Finished Omamori tonight.
Unsurprisingly it turned out a bit full of cliches, but it was a series that wasn't big and wasn't particularly trying to be. I guess you could liken it to a combo of Asobi ni Iku Yo and Shana.

Can't say I went in expecting much and enjoyed it as a light watch based on that. I've seen far worse!
Predictably as a solo watch I was able to watch it far more at my preferred marathon rate.

Will probably rewatch Bakemonogatari as the family 'project' once we finish Durarara, starting to fancy a rewatch, and I know the older of my two brothers wants to watch it again, and it'll be something pretty different for the youngest.

I might eventually get round to finishing Bakemonogatari at some point. I never really 'got it' the first time i watched it. I watched the first 4 episodes i think, and i just got bored. I found it realy dull, and i just don't understand the hype it gets. Maybe it's because of all of the 'moe' characters that pander to the fantasties of the die hard otaku masses?

Not really. The snail arc (which I believe is where you are) is probably the slowest of the lot, and the show speeds up a lot after.
Personally I think the blend of themes, humour, quirky characters, really strange romance and relatively different style is probably why I liked it, along with finding a few of the themes catchy.
The friend I've got who watches anime also felt the same way as you after the first few episodes but after he decided to give it another shot and finishing it, he really enjoyed it.(be aware the 12 episode is the last tv episode which is why it has an 'ending' but the series actually spans 15 episodes and there is another arc after 12)

Not necessarily sure I'd consider Senjougahara moe either! She's an interesting one though.

Well you know what i mean, the typical stereotypes that sell huge amounts of merchandise.

I'll get round to it eventually, i just remember lot's of sitting there...talking and not much else.

Well don't ignore the series based on the moyoi snail arc as that is the slowest of the series. It is sometimes quite chatty due to the nature of the show but don't let that put you off as there is a lot more going on later in the series.

Have to admit that I am leaning the same way as Demoniser on Bakemonogatari ... I have seen all the episodes and still don't rate it as highly as some of the hype which surrounded it. I'll probably go back and watch it again at some point though.

Due to having to be off work for a couple of days ended up marathoning through both series of Kimi ni Todoke over the last few days. I do really like this story although, at times, it does seem to move oh so slowly and you do want to bang the lead characters heads together.

I have to admit that I tend to find my favourite scenes normally involve Ayane who always seems to be several steps ahead of what's going on and pity the fool who tries to derail her carefully crafted plans of what should happen. Roll on the NISA release in the Autumn.

I never said I felt it was perfect, it's not...it's just strangely different in many ways, and I found it enjoyable and different for it. That said I didn't see the hype so we might be coming from slightly different perspectives; my point was I enjoyed it and I think it's at least worth finishing, as the place where Demon stopped is probably one of the slowest in the series and it sounds like that's one of his criticisms.

Even the style of the show itself is going to be fairly marmite; and due to it's nature it's not one I see getting an official translation either.

RE: Kimi ni Todoke ...I've still yet to sit down and watch S2, but I did enjoy S1 so its definately on the backburner list...although that list is quite long :)

There was quite a bit of hype when it was airing about how great it was and it isn't a bad series by any means ... I just don't think it is as good as some made out at the time.

I have seen speculation that it is quite likely it will get a US release, probably from Aniplex US, but of course that is still speculation at this time.

I'd be surprised if it got a DVD release then; there is so much text that they'd have to do a lot of repainting (assuming they don't just ignore them), the subs would be crazy. A Blu-ray release with all the text overlaid/dealt with properly would be nice tho.

Only way I could possibly see them doing it with DVD properly would be to include little translation booklets; as there are so many little split second text screens; and some of those actually make the story make a great deal more sense IIRC.

I agree, the limitations of the displaying of subtitles in the DVD format would make those screens impossible to subtitle reasonably ... Unless the screens were hard subbed directly on the video to avoid the limitations of DVD playback or reanimated with English text ... Both of which option would probably lead to rage in some quarters.

A BD only release may be possible though with that formats more advanced subtitle support ... I doubt it'd be cheap though

Probably...definitely....
There is/was rage enough when they've overlaid subs on top of signs in the past:p

As you say BD might make it possible, but it would probably be time consuming and expensive to do, and even then you'd probably find some players that didn't like what was being done.

On a different topic, I started Ouran School Host club last night, which is looking fun :)
