Except that with the new translation you comments about the last episode are not correct.

He has achieved that several episodes previously but wants to help the others and the very last scene (which may be after the credits I can't remember) indicates that he then does.
.

Hmmm fair enough, I'm just basing my thoughts off the couple of translations I'd seen previously. If more has been implied or suggested in this translation then that changes things.

Does also make me wonder if they changed or updated the script though, given the aforementioned continuity hole, and that's why the extra isn't included... who knows?

And yes its a shame this forum doesn't have easier spoiler boxes! (For reference I found out it's 1C5780)

Edit:
Payday...Spice and Wolf S1 Bluray and S2 Limited Edition Bluray ordered, about £60 for the pair :)
From the pictures it looks like the limited edition is a nice dual series card case, not sure if there are any other bonuses with the Ltd Ed as no one seems to be quite sure yet.

I ended up ordering from Right Stuff. I was going to use United Publications initially, as that way I'd have no customs possibilities, but unlike the last time I'd looked, they don't seem to mention the limited edition preorder coin anymore. Not sure if that means they're not expecting to get any or they've run out of allotment. Even if I get hit by customs it'll only work out a couple of pounds more from RS which I think is fair for a bonus item, even if it is something like a coin :)

The only thing I've got to sort out now is making sure Right Stuf process and a lot my order and coin, but delay the despatch - the sets are due out on 2/8, but I'm away the week after, and as RightStuff takes anywhere from 1-4 weeks to arrive, I don't want to risk the possibility it arrives whilst we're away, and something happens to the order.

That new artbook is also due out in about a week; so I'll likely end up ordered that through Otaku.co.uk as they've agreed to stock it when I pointed it out.

Alex, I don't know if you've spotted it yet, but S&W book 5 is up for pre-order :)
I've still got to read 2-4  (bought them all on release, just not reading much that's on paper at the moment).

I'm still watching Ouran School Host Club, up to episode 19 and really enjoying it as a lighter series, I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion the girls school are probably the slightly more ecchi bunch:p

Same here, I've not read past the first novel yet for Spice and Wolf, or in fact seen the second season. Had book 5 on pre-order since mid-May though :)

Finished watching Maid-sama last night. Thought that it was ok, similar sort of feel to School Rumble, but there wasn't really any progress to the characters over the course of the series. The animation was ok and it was an enjoyable watch (although I disliked the ED's in particular)

*Stabs Andi* only joking :)
When you do watch Season 2 though, be aware of 2 things -
1) The animation studio changed, and whilst it's not made massive changes, there are some.
2) Season 2 is slightly different in tone to S1, S1's material spent more time...'drifting', or easing you into the lifestyle, whereas S2 focuses on two specific story arcs in 2 locations.

Werewolf - had but hadn't got round to preordering yet. It's the new artbook I've been thinking about as that's due out in Japan in about a weeks time :) Supposedly a collection of several hundred bits of art the original artist has done for the series from it's inception through completion.

I'll take some picture once I can get hold of it. It's definately included in my monthly budget :D

Oh, and as slightly good news, Yen have reconfirmed they've licensed the entire series, rather than just the 6 they're currently showing, and are intending to release them all, including the epilogue novel as I understand. Only downside is they're not planning to up the release rate much (2 a year for a 17/18 novel series that's now finished is a little...slow...I'd hoped they would up it to 3 a year)

That's great news, i just recieved book 4 and book 5 is not until December. At this rate i will be 40 by the time i get the last book!!!!

Fair enough :) Hopefully we'll get them about the same time then. I'm waiting to see which cut of the last episode they've used :)

The release date, at least according to RS has shifted to the 30/8, although Funimation is still saying 2/8.

Just watched the first 2 episodes of starship yamato. Seriously why do they act like this is marine warfare? I know the ship is well a ship but the other space craft like sonar noises, underwater suits, torpedos and broadsiding each other. some dude with an anchor on his admiral outfit.

Im a bit confused lol.

Just the way they've envisioned it I guess. In terms of the closest comparison from an earthbound perspective then underwater combat is it.

Even when you look at a lot of other media; space forces are often portrayed/laid out like naval forces (IE in Star Wars you had the Imperial Navy)

Yep, it quite a common method used as it gives a framework which people can understand which maps quite well into the idea of vessels in a hostile environment.

Another good example of this are the Honor Harrington books by David Weber.

Currently waiting to see if UP are going to send me a book they shouldn't be (as there looks like there has been a glitch on their system and they are resending me something they actually sent me last October and haven't re-ordered).

It sort of makes sense, as the Navy has traditionally been working in closed environments for months away from their bases, so a "space" service would likely inherit a lot of the practices to the sea services as handling is similar to subs.
The likes of recruiting/training the crew would also be similar (same sort of vetting and a very high proportion of engineering crew like a sub, as you can't just pull over and let someone off if they turn out to be claustrophobic).

Also, certainly in Anime there are often parallels in the Space navy stories to naval battles and culture :)

Ooh, it seems the Ltd Edition Spice and Wolf S2 set has different artwork :)

There's a general impression that the Ltd Edition is a custom card 'complete series' holder for both BDs as no other reasons for it 'Ltd Ed' have been released.

If you look at the pictures it's also noticeable the Ltd Ed case looks thicker, and says 'Spice and Wolf' with no mention of S1/2 on the spine :)

Gotta say I prefer these new covers and the re-release cover for Spice and Wolf 1; they suit the series more than the original Funi release :)

Yea but instead of having maneuverable ships like star wars its like they are confined by the physics of water. ' 20 degrees to starboard captain' cue turn like a tanker lol. handheld comms also seem to be sci-finish in this world - they could have just used the ideas from startrek ah well. nm.

from Funimation:
Season 1 Blu-ray is in Blu-ray size case
Season 2 LE Combo will hold Season 1 dvd & season 2 in the box (dvd sized packaging)
Season 2 Alt combo is also in DVD size packaging

Also, the Season 1 Blu-ray has an o-card, so if people want to put that one inside the box instead of one of the Season 1 DVD releases, it should fit pretty snuggly although it will have a small gap at the top since Blu-ray is not the same height as the Season 2 Combo Pack DVD case.

The S2 LE Combo will be in a box to take two standard DVD case sized amway cases in a solid box. It will probably come with two of these DVD size cases inserted, one with DVD's in and the other with BD's in.

Hence you can remove the case with the S2 DVDs and put in the case for the S1 BDs but there will be a gap at the top as the S1 BD release is in BD cases instead of DVD cases.

Non-LE S2 box will likely be a brick case instead of a cardboard box.

They act like it's marine/naval warfare because it is in essence. The only difference is they're operating in a vacuum instead of on the water.

While fun to watch, watching capital ships whizzing about as if the laws of physics don't apply isn't realistic.

Seriously though, Yamato is over 35 years old, of course it will be cheesy and not make sense.

Interesting that they used Manga Holo not Anime Holo

You know what, I just looked up the first episode of this to try and prove me wrong that this wasn't perverse and jesus christ, was just horribly porny - naked teenage girl prowling around on screen.

I'd be embarrassed to have that in my house to be honest! :o
