The AMD Driver Thread

I get the random white flashes also, with a Sapphire 7900xtx Nitro+, in other games, and sure I've spotted it whilst watching YouTube. So it must be a driver issue, hopefully AMD sort that one out shortly.

Have you tried disabling MPO. A lot of people experiencing GPU driver issues have saw them fixed by disabling it. https://community.amd.com/t5/driver...shutdown-required-disbaled/m-p/564820#M165466

I also saw some flashes when playing YouTube videos using a chromium based browser with my Red Devil 6800xt. Swapping to a non chromium based browser like Firefox stopped them happening for me

Thanks for that, I'll give it ago tonight. I needed a longer display port cable, so made sure I bought a VESA certified one from StarTech, which others also recommended.

Will let you know how I get on :-)

I've had zero issues with my 7900xtx, the only problems I had was with an undervolt that wasn't 100% stable. Bumped it up a bit and I have no driver crashes at all now. Not experienced any flashes or artifacts either.

Quick update, after disabling MPO a few days ago, it looks to have had a positive result. The odd random white flashing, seems to have stopped, and hopefully the hard lock ups when using Edge have also stopped. From what I've found, there still appears to be a known driver issue, with Chromium based browsers, when GPU hardware acceleration is enabled.

Enabling MPO and just using Firefox (not chromium based, adblock still works) has been a good experience for me.

RX6800 XT black screen update!

After months of black screens and the occasional need to reset my hung PC, numerous driver and configuration changes and a complete reinstall of Windows 11 it looks like I've solved the problem.

Despite having no issues with any other apps, only the AMD drivers, I read that a fellow sufferer simply swapped his DIMMs around in the slots so, almost as a last resort, I thought I'd do the same. I'd also run numerous memory tests which resulted in no issues being reported.

I'm happy to report after swapping my DIMMs around (not replacing, just swapping slots) I've not encountered a single crash in over a week. This is on a system where I'd suffer from at least one crash per day.

Answers on a postcard.....

Your memory configuration was not stable, probably needed a bump of voltage or something assuming you were just running XMP.

Big driver update folks.

On phone so if someone can plug in the official release notes with a link to the driver…

A lot of performance increases for the 6950XT there, why quote that card specifically? I don't understand that, would that not apply to all RX 6000 GPU's or is this due to some CPU overhead and the quoted results only apply to the fastest of the RX 6000 range?

Maybe i'm over thinking it but why quote one GPU specifically and not just the RX 6000 range? if i have an RX 6800 can i not expect the same results?

Thanks Matt :)

Yes should be similar gains on all GPUs but not every GPU is tested so only what is tested is mentioned afaik.

hmm https://community.amd.com/t5/gaming...th-amd-software-adrenalin-edition/ba-p/585707 then obs bit saying my 6700xt has more hw options for obs but i dont. I still have just 1 amd hw option. Thought us 6000 users were getting av1 and avc options like the 7000 series according to the info???

I reinstalled obs to see if it was needed but nope lost settings and no extra amd h.264 options just the one we usually had before.

Nice driver update that fixed an issue with my system using audio over HDMI with my 6600 where if audio was in use for example a Youtube video and another application needs to use the audio device like a windowed game it would cause the audio to stutter for about a second everytime one would switch between them.
