The AMD Driver Thread

Updated to Adrenalin 24.10.1 and the only issue I have so far is that when moving the window of Adrenalin around my monitors its so incredibly laggy and stutters constantly. Using the app doesn't pose any issues but moving it screen to screen does have problems for me.

Is this with a specific view on-screen, like the performance metrics? Does this lag go away for you if you disable animations under [Settings cog] > Preferences?

So apparently when I was installing Windows 11, It decided to install drivers through Windows update which I installed the latest on top of, Disabled Windows ability to do that using O&O Shutup, DDU'd and reinstalled the GPU driver, Seems to be holding stable in the same scenario that gave me a blackscreen before.

Windows has done this every time I ddu first, install the driver then Windows decides to install a driver to override it.

If I don't notice it's done that, my system becomes really messy until I reinstall the same driver initially on top and everything is stable

In my case Windows installed a driver and then I installed a driver but there must have been remnants left behind that caused issues so I used O&O Shutup to completely disable Windows installing any drivers... I said driver way too many times... :D

EDIT

Well there goes that theory, Tried to play a game just now and it gave another black screen reboot, Getting very tired of AMD's drivers.

Are you certain this is a driver issue? Considering there's a fair whack of us in a similar hardware position without any of these issues.

It could well be a dodgy card itself.

When looking at performance metrics/tuning page is when i get the lag. I disabled the animations and doesnt make any noticable differnce. Defintley didint do this on the previous version but app is still totally usable.

Are your screens added via their inf into device manager or are they just listed as generic monitors?

this might sound like a long shot. but why not try the AMD pro drivers, i just select the 7800 pro whatever card it was and it installs just fine with my 7800XT.

Only reason why I don't use it is because the one software I use as much as games davinchi resolve thinks I have no GPU with that driver ( though AMDVIK says they are aware of this issue ).

My experience with that driver in games I actually found a bit smoother in games and the system was a bit nicer as well otherwise I would use it if it wasnt for resolve.

Funny enough when I had Nvidia I always used their studio drivers and never the game ready drivers.

Tried to no avail.

Out of curosity I tried disabling the EXPO profile to run the ram at the default of 4800MT/s, Fully stable.

Now here's the weird thing, I managed to get a friend to come round with his 4080 Super, System is fully stable with memory set to its EXPO profile of 6000MT/s.

But if I put the 7900XTX in, 6000MT's is unstable and needs to be set to 4800MT/s so I have no idea what that's about.

Hmmm then it could be that motherboard then. Try shifting your gpu to another slot.

not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but after updating to 24.10.1 on my work machine, whenever i right click on onedrive in explorer say a folder name to share it, i get the adrenaline software randomly appear out of nowhere.

If it was the motherboard a different GPU would give the same issues which the 4080S did not, I think it's just AMD weirdness.
It is AMD weirdness sorry, just wondering if there's some issue between how AMD is interacting with the CPU and ram such as Sam usage. Nvidia is game by game but it's always on for AMD.

Moving the GPU to another slot will mean it should use the chipset lanes

Yeah tried that, same outcome, it only started with this latest update though as it's been rock solid for months.
