The AMD Driver Thread

Just installed the new driver, thinking it would resolve the black screen but as soon as I opened MS Edge black screen, I have Freesync enabled on my TV.

Do the ALT+R and other overlay hotkeys stop working for anyone else? Restarting doesn't seem to fix it but reinstalling the drivers does.. until it breaks again.

That seems to have fixed the black screening with VRR on desktop for me on 9070XT

Still not fixed, need to disable Freesync.

I take back my message. It's still an issue with some browsers. I don't get black screens with just Edge, but if I have Edge and Chrome open and mouse over the two windows I get the screen drop to black and back. Rather keep VRR on and disable hardware accleration in those browsers as I use Arc more. And it doesn't seem to have this issue.

The bug is probably caused by Chromium browsers that have some code to support VRR in some way. Arc started as some ***** Mac port of Chrome so it may not have some of these Windows features. It depends what they've pulled or re-written.

It could even be attributed to some weird Windows 11 24H2 bug, much like the alt-tab crashing/black screening; I wouldn't be surprised.

Just use Firefox and see if that eliminates the black screening would be my advice. It's also better for everyone on the web if the Chromium stranglehold gets weakened.

I get the Chrome and Edge flicker too with VRR. I fixed it by setting the respective browser flags "Choose angle backend" to opengl.

On a separate note, my weird ALT+R hotkeys thing just went away. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Just installed a 9070xt and the 25.3.2 adrenaline driver. I've got the performance set to default and that's it, are there any other tweaks I should make for a 9070xt?

You could consider under-volting the GPU, it makes the GPU more efficient, and still able to overclock. Normally a 9070 XT sucks about 300 watts from the wall. Some people, have knocked up to 50 watts off that number. The Asrock Taichi, does it in quiet mode, it reduces wattage from it's default when switching the bios over.

You could favour performance or you could try overclocking, there is a beginner vid here if you want to have a bash -

Running into something with Adrenalin - it seems to be sharpening screenshots that I take. Anyone else had this? Bit annoying as it is over sharpening them, leading to some very noisy images.

Any news about this browser black screen flashing ?

Got a bit annoying i must say...... any driver fix?

Currently on 25.3.2

This needs to be AMDs priority, if the want win hearts and minds !

If you are using chrome try a different browser. It doesn’t happen with me in Firefox or Edge.

Or turn off hardware acceleration in the browser settings.
