The AMD Driver Thread

AMD fans have been outspoken about their love for the smooth gameplay of AMD FreeSync™ technology, and have understandably been excited about the prospect of using compatible monitors with the incredible performance of an AMD CrossFire™ configuration.

After vigorous QA testing, however, it’s now clear to us that support for AMD FreeSync™ monitors on a multi-GPU system is not quite ready for release.

As it is our ultimate goal to give AMD customers an ideal experience when using our products, we must announce a delay of the AMD Catalyst™ driver that would offer this support. We will continue to develop and test this solution in accordance with our stringent quality standards, and we will provide another update when it is ready for release

:D

Well if it's delayed for the better am happy to wait. A delay isn't always a bad thing. Not announcing a delay is..

Least we now know, hope it's not to long. Having used Freesync now it's little hard to play a game without it.

Typically they wait till the last possible second to tell us something they knew probably a week or more ago..

I doubt it, i miss my deadlines 90% of the time but i believe that i will make the deadline 80% of the time based on my ability, but there are too many factors that are down to others before it gets to me so it ends up missing the deadline which we only know hours beforehand that the deadline will be missed because the job was not given to me as intended so i have to improvise which then becomes how long is a piece of string, that what happens when everything is bespoke and with constantly moving goalposts, it never gets easy no matter how much experience as customers expectations which are large international and global companies are near unrealistic as they dont understand the technology or the limitations of it.

As far as i see it trying to mix Multi GPU, Async and Eyefinilty is a monumental task.

You're 70% right :p

I really don't want to go Nvidia. Nor do I want to put up with the sub-par driver support. Always leaving it until the last minute to tell their customers that there is going to be a delay. Nothing personal against Matt as he can only tell us what he's been told.

I'm actually not surprised some of you guys are thinking about jumping ship. From what I've seen from AMD lately most of it has been a bit bummy.

Freesync for example. Comes out on monitors costing £400 plus and doesn't work with Crossfire yet. Madness.

I just hope that the reason for all of this silence and feet dragging is because they are busy readying their new cards and once they release sanity can resume.

AMD are becoming Valve.

On the latest windows 10 build, it keeps downloading an AMD driver that results in a blue screen :(.
I wiped, installed the latest beta, worked, put Internet in and then it auto installs some buggy crap and bsod again.

Doesn't affect me as I have no freesync or crossfire but once again Amd have failed, this is what gets remembered and has a knock on effect for Amd's reputation which frankly gets worse and worse. As I have vowed never to buy Nvidia, after the shoddy way they treated 970 owners, I am extremely worried about Amd and their inability to meet their customers needs. Come on Amd get your finger out!

When Freesync Crossfire support comes out it'll probably be botched rubbish which will run like trash. Glad i'm not on the freesync bandwagon, for now. Hope AMD's driver support improves, they're digging themselves a deep hole. Only problem is that AFAIK Nvidia still has the shovel after the 970 issues, it'll be couriered overnight to you AMD. :D

I can't even imagine the backlash if this turns out to be the case!!!

I'm sure it wont be,, just will take a bit longer. Just seems to becoming a habit of AMD to set deadlines they cant meet and something i hope they turn around soon .
If in doubt set longer deadlines and if its ready sooner people will be happy :)
