The AMD Driver Thread

What graphics options or features are utilizing the gameworks part of pCars? I just pre-loaded pCars today and cant wait to have a go using crossfire FS.

I tried a few early versions using the crossfire profile in its early stage and it worked very good...

I had most settings around medium to high to get a nice framerate on crossfire 290x at 1080p .... be interesting to see how the final version performs on 1440p 144hz ...

CrossFireX FreeSync should make it very nice... here is hoping!! :)

pcars is a GameWorks title, so you'll want to disable those features if running an AMD gpu as neither the developer, nor AMD, is able to optimise any GameWorks code to perform optimally on our hardware.

Why don't AMD work with as many developers to get their own features and optimization pathways added to games? you work with one or two developers (eg. Aliens, BF4) but for the most part just sit back and cry foul about Gameworks titles for which there are many.

If AMD worked with as many developers as NVidia do then your paying customers wouldn't have these problems? is it not a bit of a cop-out to to be pointing the blame elsewhere all of the time?

My issues with constant freezing/stuttering and frame drops in GTA V with crossfire have largely been resolved by installing the windows 10 driver, which someone on the guru3d forums modified to work on windows 8.1. Several other users are also experiencing the same improvements after switching.

I haven't tried any other games yet but the GTA V performance is much better than in the windows 8.1 15.4 driver. Whatever they've done in the windows 10 driver is a real improvement, at least at 1080p@120Hz in GTA V crossfire which was terrible before.

More baloney, there is a huge list of gaming evolved titles.

And its not about how many developers are working with who, its all about restrictions, if 75% of all games were Gaming Evolved titles and the other 25% were GameWorks that does not solve the issue of not being able to fully optimize for GameWorks titles does it, so your argument is flawed, because you dont understand the point.

Matt, how would I go about disabling Gameswork features in pCARS, please?

Such info has never knowingly been divulged during development over the last ~3.5 years on the WMD forum.

Matt,

I asked you a while ago about the issue I was having with GTA V and the pop-ups (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=27920869&postcount=3597) and was wondering if you have had any more issues like this being raised?

I have tested both of my cards to the hills and back and it is still happening on both cards individually and in Crossfire on GTA V. I have tested in a variety of other games and I'm not seeing any of these issues crop up in any of them. I got in touch with Asus regarding an RMA for both of the cards and they said they'd be happy to honour the RMA if I could show them more evidence of the problem in other games but couldn't do it. I highly doubt it's a problem with my cards. I also got in touch with Rockstar and they have said it's not an issue with the game. There is also someone else having the same problem in BF: Hardline (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18667597).

Surely this all narrows it down to be a driver issue?

Normally via the video options menu as far as i know.

What platform is the new AMD forum going to use? Vbulletin or Lithium i hope. Do you know, Matt?

Any chance were going to get a working project cars crossfire profile? Yes there is one... does it work...If you call getting half the fps that I get using a single card working then yes it does :D lol. 28fps in crossfire 60fps in single mode. Awsome.

Had a very quick play last night, and Crossfire seemed to be working fine for me. What settings were you running the game at mate? Just wondering if there's one setting that may be scuppering performance. I listed what I was running in the Pcars bench thread that popped up:

Just wanted to thank everyone who provided me with bug reports for the Eyefinity - Vsync - Crossfire - Audio sound crackling issue, we've manage to recreate it internally and are now working on fixing it. Once it's been fixed, it will appear in the resolved issues section of the driver release notes.
