The AMD Driver Thread

So far Witcher 3 is running pretty damn well for me on my rig. All the gpus aren't being utilized as much as they should, but hell the game isn't giving me any trouble :) Can't wait for the actual driver to drop though!

IM getting around 30fps Maxed out apart from Hairworks on a single 290 at 3440x1440 so that's looking pretty good for when crossfire actually works. Might be able to even use hairworks.

Tested out some xfire profiles and AFR actually makes the game run beautifully... but the texture flicker is so out of control LOL! But maxed out at 1440p (sans hair) I pegged my 96hz cap easily.

And how will the 300 series help if the drivers for NV sponsored games are not on time, so your comment does not make sense.

I expect AMD to not be on time with drivers with the majority NV sponsored games if at all.

And in regards to the TW3 the current AMD drivers are holding up very well even against NVs TW3 drivers.

Calm down dude. No need to get emotional. We are all a little disappointed with AMD lately. Go read my post again.

All I am saying is that in my opinion AMD are not doing themselves any favours by not having drivers out for such a big release already. That coupled with their general position right now I think it is fair to surmise that the 300 series is going to need to be a big win for AMD. What part of that does not make sense exactly?

Also worth mentioning is what you expect is not the same as what other expect, therefore you should not go around telling people their posts don't make sense...

Well that was a surprise. Will wait to pick this up until AMD sort out drivers...I guess I could be waiting a while though. I am still waiting for some crossfire Freesync drivers.

You expect too much mate. This is a "NV sponsored game" and therefore naturally we should not expect a driver optimised for W3 on time if ever at all! Even if it is one of the biggest games released on the year :p

Interested to see what Final8y's opinion on your Freesync issue would be though, as that is not "NV sponsored". lol :p:D;)

So, more AMD fail?

I have the game, but didn't bother downloading it yet. I figured I would likely not have crossfire support and thought would see how it ran generally first.

They did a good job slowly turning around people's perception of their driver support, but I think they have undone all that this year...

I dunno why people are making such a fuss. Holding out on playing the game until there a new drivers? I have played it straight away and its fine. If it improves with a driver than thats nice, but in the meantime just give it a go!

Pretty funny and annoying seeing my 780 being tied in performance with a 280x in Witcher 3.. I guess we can start reversing the old "AMD WORSE DRIVER EVER" chant cause thats clearly not the case with this specific title. What a pathetic show by nvidia really.. But it is not news anymore, they like to dig. Someone should give them ubisoft's shovel.

None of that matters, at least they released a driver and its WHQL any negative effects and issues some users are experiencing are irrelevant.

Some of them have issues, some of them don't. At least they get a choice to use the new or stick with old :)

As for crippling Kepler... well it's Nvidia and I wouldn't put anything past them. But it's such an obvious issue, I am willing to bet it might be in error rather than deliberate crippling. They do at least try to keep their shady practices a bit low key :D

Well stuff like this makes me consider the red camp even more when the next upgrade is happening. Im so tired of all the restrictions and BS they are pulling over and over and over. Dont get me wrong, im very happy with my 780, it has been a powerhouse but even it wont last forever and i am seriously doubting that i will continue to support a company that cannot even print "we are sorry" when they get caught in false advertisement.
