The AMD Driver Thread

Tommy Farcry 4 is having a new patch shortly and as such, we've been unable to test if Crossfire is safe to be officially enabled yet in this title. Once we've tested and confirmed all is ok, it will be added to the next driver. As soon as i can tell you when that will be, you'll hear about it from me.

As for Metal Gear Solid i will have to investigate. :)

Odd aliasing going on in Alien Isolation, Tested the game at 1080P on a GTX 780 Ti and the aliasing was there but not bad, Tested again with the same settings on the 295X2 and the aliasing is huge.

This a driver issue or game issue ?

Single gpu can select SMAAx2 but multi gpu (from either vendor) can only select SMAAx1, this could be the reason.

The little check box under Crossfire-X, I'm guessing that actually just activates profiles and doesn't really disable Crossfire-X ?

Correct. You need to create a profile for Alien Isolation using the game exe A (AI.EXE) and select disable Crossfire at the bottom. No promises this will work as you have a dual gpu card, but it might.

So with ULPS on for you matt is all your other GPU's not allow the voltage change?

synchronise wont work for me because my card not the same ID tag..

I have it off at the moment, but will try later. Pretty sure for me it only changes the voltage of gpu1 when i use sync. Maybe Pete sets them individually.

A bios flash might give you the same ID. ;)

This driver is not recommended for normal users, it's for people who use the Alienware Amplifier.

Hi Matt, I have a 295x2 and fx9590 cpu running off a Silverstone 1500 watt power supply,
do you think I could add a 290x for tri-fire off this PSU?

Sorry this is off topic for the thread but I really wanted your opinion. :)

Thanks.

You certainly can, but first it would be nice to know what motherboard you have and what resolution you'll be running, along with what games you'll be playing?

Matt one of the devs of BF mentioned that AMD managed to fix the memory leak and to expect the fix to be included in forthcoming beta - do you know if he was talking Vram(Mantle?)/or system RAM. I thought that DICE had fixed the memory leak - are there more than 1? Who's telling porkies here?

Hi Dave,

Can you link me to that comment please so i can investigate.

There were three different memory leaks to the best of my knowledge. One we fixed a long time ago, one Dice fixed very recently (it was the well known system memory leak) and there is also the video memory over subscription issue. I know the Dice team are continuing to work on on bringing the high video memory subscription down with the Mantle Frostbite implementation.

I'm using the "Ultra" preset. Running it in DX11 works without any problems, always maintains 60FPS. Mantle however, stutters all over the place.

That'll be why then, using the ultra preset under Mantle uses more video memory than your graphics cards have available. Either use DX11, or lower AA to x2 or x0 and Mantle will not stutter.

Did you manage to get to the bottom of this Matt? Is he just behind the times? Or do we have even better performance to look forward to?

Yes i did Dave.

Actually a memory leak was found recently. It's a bit different from the well known Mantle (system memory) leak. This memory leak was in the base kernel mode display driver.

The developer was only tracking the memory allocations itself and noticed that they weren't being released properly. This case mainly happens in Multiplayer mode when changing maps so it's not as easily reproduced as the previous memory leak issue.

I would expect this to be fixed in a future driver update.

Well just spoke to AMD Roy via twitter and he asked me to send feedback to his email address about Raptr, Was very polite honest feedback, Basically yes it works but it needs to be on the same level as Shadowplay in the quality department and functionality, It was a rather lengthy email but that's the jist of it, I hope we see progress sooner rather than later :)
