The AMD Driver Thread

Nvidia are not much better, their last few sets of drivers have been terrible, even the ones released today are getting a slating, must admit i had a chuckle when reading the threads :D

So they should delay the game because AMD can't sort their drivers out?

It's obviously a driver issue considering the consoles both use AMD APU's and obviously will perform decently at launch.

This is bulls*** Gameworks again. The developers made the game yet it's up to AMD to fix it? When they were making it did they not test it on AMD cards and see a problem? Vote with your wallet guys.

This is going to be a continuing theme on PC, GameWorks is also problematic on Nvidia, its just worse on AMD because its not designed to run on AMD at all.

Its the worst thing in PC history, Developers only use it because its cheap and easy just to copy it over for some cheap effects.

Well I'm glad Steam have a new and improved policy on refunds. Its a pity you can't do the same with graphics cards ;)

Yup, another game I won't be paying for either, oh well, saves me some money and means that I can put it towards other things :D

AFAIC, it isn't AMD's fault, if they can get drivers out on day of release for the likes of gta 5 but not nvidia sponsored gameworks title, then I blame the developers AND/OR nvidia.

Love to know how much nvidia pay to get these publishers/developers to use their tech. in the games... we need more developers like R*.

As much as I would love to say I wont be paying for another rubbish amd port I love the batman games too much to not buy it lol. I just hope crossfire actually works.

Saw this in PC games section, was 5 mins away from buying and dl,be interesting to hear what the problem is,what makes no sense is how late in the day problem is announced?
Is it nvidia making gameworks changes as late in the day as possible to screw things or amd simply not being on the ball?...neither company are covering themselves in glory with drivers at the moment, you can understand why for under £300 growing millions stick to consoles for games.
Gpu's for 500 to approaching a grand for this s****?

There is no doubt that something dodgy is going on with Nvidia Gameworks games.

This game is another cross platform title. I.e based on X86 and using AMD hardware GCN on consoles. Why on earth would their be issues with a game that can run just fine on an AMD GCN based APU when running on an AMD GCN based PC.

Notice how games that aren't gameworks titles are ok at launch with no glaring performance issues expect maybe needing a new crossfire prolife. Yet every Gameworks titles specifically has issues with AMD cards causing performance issues. This can't be a coincidence..

Even the ps4 has had to have a 3.5Gb performance patch applied. It just looks like the game is far from ready. Maybe bearable with Nvidia but i bet it has issues too.

And seriously this is from a ps4 review. Do they take drugs?

Having sunk many hours into the game, the stability of the build here is laudable. Our playthrough went almost entirely bug free, with only a faint flicker of pop-in for geometry and light maps at range, too far away from the player to be at all perceptible during play. The only real bug we encountered was a collision detection blip at the 50 per cent mark, causing us to fall through the game world in one specific spot while in the Batmobile. Fortunately, the rest of the adventure went uninterrupted, and we suspect we got unlucky in this one case.

Having almost completed the game - in terms of the main mission path, at least - it's safe to say Arkham Knight's opening act (from which we plucked our test clips) is indicative of the performance, quality and production values of the full package. It's a slick, confident showing from Rocksteady we can't wait to spend more time with.

The fall through the gameworld at one point just in the first act and and they praise it fro been so bug free?

But but but.... some forum members would have you believe that gameworks is a good thing and the best thing to happen for the pc gaming industry!

:o

I'll ask our rep when we should get a driver for Arkham Knights... As it stands we no longer have a rep, nor are we likely to get a driver within a month of release....

This driver thread isn't what it was without Matt. It felt a little more personal with our own AMD rep and must have influenced many people's buying decisions on here.

Sadly our new rep, Joe has yet to make an appearance in this thread.
