The AMD Driver Thread

Not a single improvement on Grid Autosport/The Witcher 3/Project Cars for me on my Fury X, Still only VSR option of max 3200x1800. Well that is 2 hours of my life I can't get back.

What a massive let down.

Noticed white spots when playing project cars with this driver at 1440p VSR Had similar problem with Beta drivers. Turning back to native 1080p seems to cure this. Anyone else experiencing this?

This was unexpected. You didn't get any better gpu usage for Grid?

This lefts me a bit confused. There have been people posting 3dmark api scores on win10, where they have received 50% better results with new 15.20 drivers compared to 15.15 drivers. But that's with win10. I perfonally got like 2-3% improvement over 15.15 when moved to 15.20 drivers. So it might be that 15.15 already had overhead reductions for win 7 and 8. Can't be sure.

You got 3dmark professional version?

AFAIK 15.7 does not have all the 15.20 improvements rolled into it. That'll be the next beta driver.

You should try windows 10.

Yer will do but for now, I will stick with 8.1. Still a massive disappointment that I can't VSR to 4K, let alone the non existent sub par performance on some games even at just 1080P.

The more I use this Fury X, the more I am feeling some buyers remorse lol.

Still, drink em in lads

All this is making it sound like windows 10 brings performance benefits to existing games, whereas I thought that only DX12 games require windows 10.
No performance increase for windows 7 fury x is dissapointing though, maybe thats not what this driver revision was focusing on though ?

I just wonder if there even is drawcall improvement over 15.15 drivers on W7 and W8.1. There is for W10.

I was scoring 1.2M with 15.15 drivers on my 7970 on W7. And now I get 1.29M, so there is some improvement. And if you compare to 15.6 beta, where you get 950k, improvement is big. But people are reporting big improvement in W10 for Fury X from 15.15 to 15.7, which would indicate 15.15 drivers already have lower overhead on W7 and W8.

(erm, was I clear enough?) :)

Gregster, I asked if you have 3dmark professional, as you need it to run API test. If you don't , no need to purchase it as you're already doing enough.

I do have them all bud, as I do a fair chunk of Benching for Team MLG (currently 8th in the world on HWBot) I have just gone back to the nVidia card but for me, it was a case of hoping to see game improvements and I don't really care about synthetic benchmarks unless I am benching for points.

As I'm still using the 15.5 betas, not any of the modded drivers from Guru3D should I be expecting any performance increases on Win7 with these new drivers? Not the end of the world if I don't as mainly I'm looking forward to FreeSync with Xfire but free performance upgrade would be nice as well :)

I just upped my monitor res from 2560x1440 to 3200x1800 which is all thats available and it looks awful. It just all seems to have a slight bluriness to it. Guessing my monitor is just not happy with it

Some weird stuff going on at my end, i get VSR in Win 7 but not in Win 10 on these 15.7 drivers. (Same setup with dual booting on identical Samsung SSD's)

15.7's giving lower min FPS on both 7 & 10..

Not much in it on the API test between these drivers..

Win10-1040

DX11 Multi-threaded draw calls per second 1 072 374
DX11 Single-threaded draw calls per second 1 093 180
DX12 draw calls per second 12 465 500

Win10-1046

DX11 Multi-threaded draw calls per second 1 053 319
DX11 Single-threaded draw calls per second 1 131 215
DX12 draw calls per second 12 472 192
Mantle draw calls per second 11 429 695

Regarding DX11 on Windows 10 i can say that the games i run seem to play smoother even if the FPS hasnt risen much, BF4 for sure and GTA V, though i think the new patch may have stuffed up the min FPS on the results above.

(For GTA V the 1040 driver benchmark was done before the patch.)

I have to say that even DayZ seems to be running slightly smoother, there seems to be a little difference around lots of building that usually cause a hell of a lot of stuttering etc but i suspect this is a Windows 10 thing rather than a driver thing :)
