The AMD Driver Thread

Well reinstalled driver and it seems to be working now.

I put clocks back to stock on the Fury X and set the FPS to 95 in Rivatuner instead of 144 just like CCC's max although I didn't enable it in CCC and it's nicely brought temps down.

Has me questioning load types though because at the frame cap of 144 the temp rose to around 50'c with a GPU load of 100% but at a frame cap of 95 the temp stays around 40'c sometimes jumping to 42'c even though it's also at 100% load.

I honestly didn't know an FPS difference could make that big of a temp change even though the GPU is at 100% in both scenarios :)

As I am rocking a 4K 60Hz monitor, I wonder if it is worth me reducing the slider from 95 to 60?

Shame the tech does not work on DX9 though.

Anything that I am playing now that is DX11 won't get high frames at 4k anyway. When I do get a game that gets lots of frames I just play it with single gpu which is a big reduction right there.

Question for AMDMatt: do you happen to know when VSR will be supported for 3440x1440 monitors on Windows 10? I've followed most of the guides that I can find and no option appears in Digital Flat-Panel properties :(

The 290's can do it, just no option yet.

Just to update regarding the fifa 16 60hz issue: I have bought a gtx 970 over the weekend and installed it with the latest drivers and both fifa 15 and 16 run at 120hz now. So this may well be an AMD driver issue after all.

Well, I've just encountered my first driver problem using one GPU with AMD cards in a very long time.

Turns out GTA5 is unplayable to this day with 390 using Windows 10, with any driver. I've tested with 15.8 beta and the previous drivers and I get the same issue.

GTA5 simply crashes with a "err_gfx_d3d_init" crash after 5-10 minutes of gameplay.

Turns out there are hundreds of users complaining of this issue on the official AMD forums:

https://community.amd.com/message/2671041#2671041

Note that this issue has been going on since June, and it still unresolved - meaning if you have a 390 series GPU and windows 10, GTA5 is completely unplayable to this very day.

AMD matt replied that a fix is in the works - though this was a few weeks ago and no new driver since.

Thankfully it's the only game that my 390X has had an issue with - though for such a big title as GTA5, you'd assume it would be top priority....

Well I'm still getting crashes in Bf4, regardless of using mantle or Dx11, just about had enough now.

Matt here's the crashes I've been getting, using Mantle with the 15.8 and using dx11 15.7.1

Just a massive pain in the arse Greg, when they work Fury X cf is a true power house, but these issues with pump whine and drivers is properly making me consider just selling up.

It's not like my system is overclocked either, just stock.

Stick with it bud. I understand and would be proper disappointed but find the whiney card and get it replaced and hopefully by then, they have the drivers sorted as well.

Any overclocking? That error message been going on since bf3 with dx11 and now mantle. Back then the fix was to reduce any overclocking on cpu or GPUs.

If you doing any overclocking on your system try running stock.

Edit
See you running stock is this just battlefield issue or other games?
