The AMD Driver Thread

Any overclocking? That error message been going on since bf3 with dx11 and now mantle. Back then the fix was to reduce any overclocking on cpu or GPUs.

If you doing any overclocking on your system try running stock.

Edit
See you running stock is this just battlefield issue or other games?

Happens at Stock and overclocked bud, Cards are bone stock too.

GTA V runs like a bag of rusty nails.

Witcher 3 was flawless throughout with great performance, so far in my testing, the issue doesn't happen if i disable Cf, not using any funky FOV setting or anything, BF4 is Just stock ultra.

Are the 290/x affected by this issue?

I'm unsure - though in the thread I linked it appears to be all Hawaii cards.

I've just been reading around and it seems some NVIDIA users are also getting this "err_gfx_d3d_init" error in GTA5 with Windows 10 also - though it doesn't seem as prevalent as it does on the 390 series. More like for every NVIDIA user that has this problem, there are 10 more AMD users that have it.

Ahh i was going to suggest trying out a 290x 8gb bios if they were without problems. Worse comes to worse your bios will fail to work and you will just need to switch it to the other bios and re-flash.

Havent gotten round to windows 10 and it looks like ill give it a little while, maybe until the next dx 12 title that makes use of the extra resources... if we ever see it before the free upgrade offer runs out :(

In fairness, overall I love Windows 10 - and the AMD drivers have been fantastic in every single game, bar GTA5.

GTA5 is not my main game, though I do enjoy a quick drive through the city every so often, so I still hope this driver issue gets resolved quickly.

Well I'm still getting crashes in Bf4, regardless of using mantle or Dx11, just about had enough now.

Matt here's the crashes I've been getting, using Mantle with the 15.8 and using dx11 15.7.1

what are your errors on the crashes? can you check your logs; you might find its something else that's causing the instability.

Is it just BF4? or GTA5? what os are you on win 10? *sorry if you've said all this just trying to catch up and help :)

There you go bud, i have absolutely no doubt in my mind that it's a driver issue, as mentioned the crashes happen regardless of if my system is overclocked or not, both cards are at stock and haven't been overclocked at all.

Windows 10, GTA V just is a massive stutter fest, the game will play great for a few mins, then the FPS just tanks down to around 24fps and remains there. Alt Enter will get it back up again, but it happens again shortly afterwards.

Is GTA V running out of VRAM Reece? That sounds to me like it is hitting the pagefile up for back-up.

No chance bud, vram usage is about 3400mb, the fps isn't single digits, it's always about 25fps, the game was fine before on my fury X at the same Res, something has changed and screwed it up.

Just doing my bloody head in.

Ahhh I see. I fired it up and played for an hour earlier to see if it was across the board but ran flawless for me. Hopefully someone at AMD can shed some light on it. I feel your pain and hope you can get it fixed bud.
