The AMD Driver Thread

other than the stuttering mess that is GTA V, the only game I've had issues with is bf4, Witcher 3 ran absolutely fine maxed out at 1440p, same for Crysis 3 etc.

I have faith in AMD and hopefully the next drivers will sort it all out.

They both have troubles from time to time and when a driver works perfectly for one it can be a nightmare for another. Stick with it I say, it will get sorted.

Perhaps this issue is most prevalent on the 390 series of GPU's then.

As I said before, there's a massive thread on the official AMD forums with so many 390 owners (and some old GPU's) not being able to play any DX11 games using windows 10:

Which games are having issues, I know Shadow of Mordor is one as I just tried it.
I also tried Mad Max and Dying Light which are both fine.

For me it's any game or benchmark that uses DX11, though as I mentioned this seems to be most prevalent for the 390 series of GPU's, and only when using Windows 10.

Is it not affecting the 290 and 290x?

I'm on a Fury and Win 10, I had Shadow of Mordor freeze my PC forcing a reboot but I've yet to find any more games with issues. Witcher 3 seems okay. Very disappointing form though.

D3: Reaper of Souls causes the screen to freeze on both 15.7.1 and the 15.8 betas on my 6850. Had to download some .dll files and paste them in my D3 folder for the problem to be solved. It seems that the .dll files force the game to use Catalyst version 13.12 instead of the installed drivers.

Any ETA on a solution? The release notes for Catalyst 15.8 state something about Diablo3 but it didn't help.

No problems running Diablo 3 here on a 390x or a 7950 on my second rig.

It appears different problems affect different generations of AMD GPU's - maybe this is why no one driver can hope to solve them all at once.

Boot Black Screen Fix?

I might have found out why some people have a black screen upon boot up.

I was messing about with Samsung software and I disabled Hibernation, I then started to notice I would get a 2second black screen I went back and enabled this setting again and I now get no black screen.

Have a look, do you have Hibernation enabled or disabled and do you get a black screen?

Edit
Windows 10 bty
