The AMD Driver Thread

Um ye... Avoid 15.9. Just from resizing chrome 2 times:

Oh dear. AMD need to put out a hotfix for that as soon as possible.

I see the same problem in Windows 7 until Aero throws a wobbly, disables transparency and this releases the RAM.

Is it only browser triggering it by re-sizing? I played some games last night and today with no issues. before I started re-sizing chrome my vram was sitting at 300mb down from 2GB after playing Fifa 16.

I going to stick just for now. I just wont re-size chrome and see if anything else make it happen i'll post them feedback.

How on earth are these things not picked up when the driver goes through QA?

EDIT: Just noticed that once it fills your GPU frame buffer it starts eating into system memory. Only realised that after resizing a bit more to test and my PC black screened as it filled both the GPU and System memory completely.

Beta drivers don't get fully tested far has I know. It's are job to report feedback.

Stuff like a memory leak for everybody should have been spotted during development. Even beta drivers are expected to work and perform basic functions, they shouldn't fill up memory and crash the driver and then get sent out into the world that way.

Next thing is to see how well AMD handle this. Are they going to leave us waiting a month for the next beta driver, or are they going to do a fast hotfix to solve this issue in order to keep their customers happy?

No, I think Explorer (not IE) windows do it too, but maybe by less each time.

Typically I had just installed the 15.9s when I read this. Rolled back to 15.8s and it seems ok now.

Yeah no I do agree. But I don't think beta drivers go through extensive testing.

Reason they list provide as is warning. Also each time we install a beta driver we are testers and should provide feedback.
