The AMD Driver Thread

It's strange how some people have to use stuff like this, I've always done the same thing and that is install the new drivers straight on top of the old ones and I've yet to have a problem in 5 odd years. When moving to Nvidia or back to AMD I do a manual removal of the old brand but that always seems to go smoothly too. I hope I haven't just hexed myself writing that

same here ;)

GTA V runs fine for me in Xfire, i had some terrible stuttering/jerking after id tried it after the recent patch the other day, but i sorted that by turning v-sync off in game (id previously had it off, but put it on to do some FreeSync testing with it the last time id tried it, and forgot to turn it back off), and capping my frames to 100 in AB, which id previously had set to 143 (not sure if that was a cause though).

This is on Win 7 btw, everything on/maxed, apart from Grass on High, Shadows on Soft, MSAA off, 1440p, FreeSync.

Thanks. I'm going to switch to installing over the top. You've probably saved me a lot of hassle with future driver releases.

Its very strange, as they've got their own uninstaller, its all i use, i just run the Install Manager from Programs & Features, and select to remove all, then after the reboot, i just install the new, never had a prob.

I do the same if it is the same make as in Amd or Nvidia I just install over the top if I change Amd to Nvidia or the other way around i will run the Install Manager from Programs & Features, and select to remove all, then after the reboot and install the new drivers not used DDU or anything like that in years.

Done some GTA V testing, played for about 2hrs last night in Xfire, still get stutters odd times, after a while of playing, so played using a single card today, and its butter, its much better.

Sorry to hear that. Not what one expects when splashing out close to four figures on graphics cards :(

Single top end card is the way forward in my opinion.

14/16nm can't come fast enough.

Tried Xfire again, but this time, before i fired it up, i disabled the Steam overlay in the Steam Settings Menu, and it seems to have made a difference, runs much better, will have do more testing, but its promising. :)

Everything on/maxed, including all the advanced stuff ?

I have everything on/maxed, apart from the Grass on High, MSAA off, and the shadows on soft.

If 1x card can run it at those settings butter smooth, then 2x should as well, but they don't, i could be belting along in a car, smooth as butter, then i'll get a quick bit of stutter out of nowhere, before it butters again.

Completed gta5 with Crossfire 290s and it was super smooth for me.. 1440p 144hz Freesync with no msaa, shadows amd and grass on high..
Even the advanced draw distance up three. Long distance flying and shadows.

Locked to 60fps with msi afterburner game was superb not played it in couple months though.

Thats the thing, i turned the extended distance scaling all the way down to try, and it was butter, but why should i have to do that on 2x cards, when on one card, it runs butter with it maxed.

Yeah theres loads complaining about stutter, ive just tried it again, but with AB off this time, and it may be placebo, but it seems better.

I'll have a good play later. :p

I get the same issues, single Fury X is butter smooth, maxed out @1440P, all ultra, 4xmsaa with all advanced up full.

Add a second card, i get fps drops, stutter and worse performance in places.
