The AMD Driver Thread

Agreed Jim its terrible support of their product. I so very nearly jumped ship back to Nvidia yesterday. Nearly brought a titan, went as far as saying I would buy it before having to sheepishly withdraw.

Been on my mind all day if I made the right choice or not.

I'm waiting for Witcher 3 Wild Hunt to come out(end of May),by that time will should know more about R9 3xx.Will see how long it'll take AMD to release working crossfire profile. Then I will make a decision if I switch teams.

I don't really get what all the anger/hostility is for over the past few pages of this thread. Is it frustrating that there haven't been any new drivers since December? Yes. Is it the norm? Not at all, since I've had AMD cards I've known there to be at least one driver out each month (beta or WHQL) and this is the first time I've ever used the same driver for three different calendar months. Is this likely to be the way going forward? No, Matt has already said this is an unusually long wait and is not planned to be the norm in future.

However, Matt has already said that the driver will be released when it's ready, he's obviously not allowed to say anything more than that, and I am sure AMD are as keen to get new drivers out the door as anyone.

Personally, I've always felt that AMD tried to get drivers out of the door as quickly as possible, and that is where the niggling little bugs have crept in. I would rather AMD spent a little more time on each driver and make each one as solid as the Omega drivers have been for me and, from my impression on the forum, most people (I am aware a few have issues, but it doesn't seem to be many). This seems to be the approach AMD have chosen for the Omega drivers, and for the next one - make it solid and spend a little more time on it. Don't forget, we're not just looking at a new driver, but new features too (more VSR resolutions, hopefully other titbits?).

I am looking forward to the next drivers coming out, but until then I'm happily using the Omega drivers and just playing each game as best I can. Life's too short to get so worked up about something outside your control IMHO. :)

We'll release them when we're happy that they're ready for our customers.

I see what you did there :D

Well said.

I find it so funny how hard you trying to get matt to reply back to you..

Extreme Trolling..

Do yourself a favour and jog on.

Grow up Shankly, I have defended Matt in this thread and sympathise that he gets it in the neck. He has nothing to do with the driver team (in programming) and of course they will be out when ready. What did I really do or say that was that bad and not jovial?

Don't forget that I also have an AMD laptop and have an interest in when these will be out. :o

Hi, for Homeworld Remastered, should I use Crossfire or not? At 4xAA and everything else maxed, it still drops below 60fps occasionally even though GPU usage is 100%. I wouldn't have expected this game to push a single 290X that hard, let alone a 295X2. Performance is still good, but I thought it might be like CoD:AW where frame rates are actually better with CF disabled.

If nobody knows, I'll mess around a bit and report back.

I have this image in my head of Matt, hunched over a computer, single-handedly working furiously to get the drivers done.

Cuts have bitten hard at AMD. Matt has no programming knowledge.

What sort of usage is the second gpu seeing?

You can try custom profiles of AFR Friendly or 1x1 Optimize.

I wish i had the knowledge to program drivers. :D

Is that still the case?

Just bought it today for some quick satisfaction shooter action.

Not touched a COD game in years, and was going to make my way through Ghosts and AW single player and the MP for AW.

A Crossfire profile was added for that a long time ago, unfortunately the game is just not very multi gpu friendly.
