The AMD Driver Thread

It'd be a very boring fake.

It appears to be from a presentation on the Pro Duo, it's clear down the bottom. It also refers to thre blend of driver support, so is clearly referring to the Duo as this is the first card positioned to bridge the gamer/compute role.

It does not matter were it appears to from with out link to the source because there is no context in that slide relating to CF AMD has always specifically stated CF even with dual GPU cards.

Its simple tbh, the Pro Duo is an Xfire card, the slide states, its getting day 1 game support, now, what card is getting day 1 gaming support, yeah thats right the Pro Duo, and what is the Pro Duo, yeah thats right again, its an Xfire card. :p

But to get day 1 CF support would require the game engine or the developers to add support for it from day one, and honestly it just does not seem like they are interested in MGPU right now which really is sad. :(

Games working on the Pro Duo and games having CF support are too different things.
There were games that worked on 2x5870 but would not work at all on a 5970, it would just crash, it needed a driver update to specifically work on the 5970.

Exactly.

Now none of us actually believe there will be Day 1 Xfire profiles - but this is what that slide suggests if you use common sense rather than the pendant-scope.
