The AMD Driver Thread

BTW- I'm on 16.3.2, and I can see an update to 16.3.1 (beat)!?

Should I move to it?

I've uninstalled and reverted to version 15.11. I've played about 15 minutes of Wolfenstion Old Blood, and the only thing that's died so far is the Nazi vermin. That's the longest period of stability since the fault developed. I'll keep you updated.

Hmmm... I've started getting odd video crashes over the past week, typically when doing something like playing a game in one window, while watching a video (eg: youtube) in another. Ultimately, the display will get corrupted and I have to reboot.

Wondering if this is due to the recent driver update!?

I had this last week too, ive not tried again on the drivers that appeared on the updater today but my exact issue was: Battle.net launcher window open in the background downloading the overwatch beta, opera open in the foreground playing YouTube lead to TDR multiple times. Battle.net window didn't recover after the TDR and required force closure. Running either battle.net launcher or opera with YouTube alone did not trigger the issue, it was specifically both together.

Does anyone else keep having to re-enable and set the value for Frame Rate Target Control every time they upgrade their drivers? It's starting to get a bit annoying having to remember to re-enable it every install.

Edit:

Oh, just upgraded from 16.5.1 -> 16.5.2. This time it's remembered the value for FRTC but put the check box to disabled as usual, but this time I've had the added bonus of all the overdrive settings going back to default!

The only time my forgets the settings I used is if I completely wipe with DDU. If I update the driver from the updater it works fine.

Yep same here, have to re-enable FRTC and also disable the power saving option too.

Now adays I'm just going with the crimson updater since it seems to be working well.

Good to know it isn't just me, perhaps they will fix it at some point then.

@AMDMatt

Hey do u know if there isnt gona be any driver profile or optimization made for the DayZ Standalone game now that DX11 has been implemented into the game? Framerates are really good now but there is some stuttering now and again, can this be sorted at driver level? Lead Producer Brian Hicks said he was going to be working with AMD and Nvidia now its DX11.

Any news on this please mate? :)

Another driver update, This time for the Doom release.

Good show AMD

Top marks for the effort the driver teams been making in recent months.

Sadly, as a 295X2 owner, it's another let down for me. I'd cut them a bit of slack if it was just lacking a Crossfire profile, but the performance of a 290X (what I effectively am left with) is ****. A GTX970 which is usually about the same *hoses* the 290X on Doom.

This the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. I got my 295X2 in Oct 2014 and Crossfire support since then has been abysmal by both developers and AMD. Combine that with some games with AMD performance issues at launch and the most expensive component I ever bought is also the most disappointing.

I may well return to AMD in the future but for now I'll be buying the predictable option of a GTX1080.

I'm appalled by that. He's either running a early Vulcan build and should therefore say so, or he's straight up lying.

Either way, he knows his customers with a 295X2 can't do 4K without it being a slideshow right now.

All he's done is make me more determined. I'll stop complaining on this thread now as that's not what it's for, but that has really wound me up.
