The AMD Driver Thread

This may be nothing to do with the drivers but is any one with an AMD gpu getting this effect when trying to play The Crew?

I've messed around with the settings a bit but couldn't get rid of it.

Important but off topic info

Just a heads up for everyone, From today the UBI30 promotional offer of a free game every month is the relatively new game 'The Crew'

I tried the demo a while back and this partially open world racer isn't bad and being free makes it a must get even if you don't plan on downloading today, Just get it tied to your account and it's there for life.

Yeah seen that, installed it, played for 30 min and unistalled it, precision driving game on the Keyboard, ridiculous.

Surely you can use a pad.

I would think so, probably a XBox 360 pad.

I have a Logitech, i like it, i'm comfortable with it, it never works with EA or Ubisoft car games, if you look at the game pad Dialogue its Microsoft's 360 pad. And they never allow button customisation, either you have a Microsoft approved pad or its Keyboard. X360 Emulatour used to work but i think M$ took offence to that and now they don't.

Codemasters its plug in and play with the Logitech, no ###### about, it just works right from the get go.

So i don't bother buying Ubisoft or EA car games, they are more hassle than they are worth.

I got 2 wireless Xbox360 pads so am all good. Pretty bad of them to force you into buying there stuff.

Its the only place in PC gaming Microsoft can make money, yet the problem for them is still that PC's are an open platform.

I don't know why some publishers refuse open game pad options, but it looks to me like Microsoft are behind it. i just don't buy thier games, car games are all the same to me, none of the are Gran Turismo, so i just get the one that works on my system.

I use Playstation 3 and 4 pads with PC and bluetooth also :D

Yeah, my Logitech is in the form of a PS2 pad, with the thumb sticks where they should be.
Another reason is that i don't like the ergonomics of the 360 pad, its wonky.

My Pad is the Dual Action, Yes its about 10 years old. i have yet to find a better one for less than silly money, its also been bounced off my Desk about a thousand times  and still works like new.

So driver issue or hardware issue?

Had my 290 Vapor-x for around a year. In the space of about 11 months, I had 2 black screens that required a reset. Both times I was just browsing, nothing intensive, but I thought nothing of it, so infrequent, so meh.

Recently though, I've had two in a short period of time. One about a 2 weeks ago and one just now. The first I was just browsing. The 2nd I was watching twitch and the screen just went black, sound carried on playing for a 10 seconds or so, and went as well (no buzzing or anything, just silence). Again, crashed the system completely and needed a restart. One thing to note, is that twitch deployed html5 player recently, and I did notice, for some reason the memory clocks keep spiking high with that (1400Mhz), while the core sits at idle speeds.

I'm on 16.7.3, just drivers being meh? I did change case recently, power cables etc all look snug and both times have been when just browsing, nothing intensive. None of the black screens have been. System has always been fine when gaming or when idle on desktop, all 4 black screens have always come when browsing.

Monitor still has signal (120Hz@1080), it's just black until the system is reset/powered off.

If it matters, the card has Hynix memory & the power cable (from a hx750i), is one with 2 pci-e on the end. Should I try switching to two seperate cables?

Guys where do I get the drivers from for the MSI RX480 Gamiing X? Ive been searching round the MSI website support section and cannot find anything?

I believe I should also get some other MSI software to control the fans etc - what is this called?

Thanks

For drivers you want to go to the AMD main site. The other program you want is MSI Afterburner. Links below.
