The AMD Driver Thread

Hi,
Has anyone noticed a change in behaviour from there card with the latest drivers?

I run a Sapphire Fury Tri-x oc. I run it at stock clocks and stock everything so there's no fan profile or anything else being used, it's how it comes out of the box.

Normally I can never hear it and temps will max out at 78 degrees under a gaming load, I'm happy with that so I didn't change anything and it's been fine for the last year.

Today I've just spent a couple of hours in game and as I got ready to finish I noticed how loud the fans where, there not loud but they are audible so I quickly booted real temp and gpu-z up to see what they said and my fans been running at 53% and in doing so it's keeping the temps at around 39-40 degrees.

That's a big change to how it usually works and I wonder if it's down to the drivers as I do not have things like Afterburner running. As I said it's all stock with no 3rd party software running.
Has anyone else noticed changes with the latest drivers? Specifically Fury pro owners.

EDIT:

I've just spent some time in game with gpu-z and real temp and it's like the fan profiles been changed, Now it's keeping the temps in the low to mid 50's by keeping the fan speed in the high 40's or low 50's. The thing is I don't want it doing that, I'm happy with a max of 78 degrees and silence, as it's been for the last year. It must be something to do with the drivers or wattman.

My RX 480 does the same.. for me its the target temp in wattman thats set to low. On top of this it seems freesync keeps breaking all the time for me which makes me a bit sad. It stops working when dropping below 50hz/fps spite the monitor supporting 40 as the lower end and it does some weird tearing all the time if the fps is not capped to the max refresh rate(i dont mean limit the fps here, i mean the fps staying near max refresh rate). Its weird and yes the games tested runs in exclusive fullscreen mode.

Mmmm, latest drivers running fine now, 50-80fps however after about 15 minutes of play my afterburner CPU/GPU spikes like you wouldn't believe and fps drop through the floor... anty ideas? Had this before cant' think how I resolved it though...

Im running the latest drivers as well. I think i narrowed my freesync issue down to the monitor(asus vg245h). It seems like it has some sort of bug. If i adjust any color or light settings in the OSD its like the freesync controls goes haywire. I then have to while in a game disable it on the monitor and then reenable it. But other than that everything seems to run well atm. Solid performance in GTA 5 and The Division.

Well, I've not had a video lock up for ages in Elite Dangerous now.

Updating the drivers seemed to help, but not fully stop it. The last thing I did was downclock the GPU and memory slightly, and since then, not a single video freeze.

I've not had any issues with freesync thankfully. The fan thing is annoying as it's been fine for the last year and it shouldn't be messing around with my gpu at all, I've put a ticket in so maybe someone'll read it and fix the problem.

I hope they sort this out soon,
I'm trying to play a game now and the fans at 66%, Personally I don't even want an overclocking program merged with my drivers, even more so if it's going to screw things up for no good reason. I just had a look in Wattman and it has target fan speed at 100% and target temp at 85 degrees.
My card has never gone over 80 degrees in it's life and while I don't know what the the fan speeds usually are they are silent,

Now my temps are around 38 degrees with the fan speed at 66% which is like having a hairdryer in a box next to me

I'm gonna have to adjust it in Wattman and see if that stops it but ffs AMD I shouldn't have to.
My gpu's stock fan profile was perfect I shouldn't be forced to change it..

My Fury Nitro has been running fine for months, but since the 16.11.3 update I've had a few red screen lockups. Is this likely driver related or hardware?

I think that AMDMatt in the past has indicated that the RSOD is cpu overclock related. Might be worth turning it down a bit and testing it.
