The AMD Driver Thread

Now that I am back to my 290 and no longer use Afterburner, I now know why most games my steam overlay was not working. Not that I use steam overlay much, but it does come in handy at times. Should have been obvious to me, but it never occurred to me :o

I do not OC my 290 at all, so do not use Wattman at the moment. But it would be nice if AMD made a overlay similar to AB in the future :)

I may have to give the +50% a try and see if it keeps the clock speed at 1040mhz as it still does drop but not as much as it used too before the fix was done

I would stop using MSI AB and Trixxx for clock speed/voltage adjustment. These applications have not been updated since Wattman arrived and they tend to cause more issues than they are worth. Use them for OSD and monitoring, but for everything else use Wattman.

Perhaps a silly question, but i assume you've set Power Limit in Wattman at +50%?

Managed to get it to work in the end, had to turn ULPS off, along with enable unofficial overclocking with power play, then turn off power effiencey in Global Settings

Bit long winded seems to be working fine, and yes PT is at MAX, card is watercooled so doesnt even get hot

Holy Jesus Balls!! I just tried using 'You Watt Man?' for the first time tonight and I must say it's a *total* cluster**** on the usabilty front! Probably the most unintuitive program I've used *ever* !!!

Sheesh

Matt, when Wattman will support VRAM overclocking on the Nano?
Until then MSI AB is the only app supporting it......

Never. Memory overclocking has always been locked down from our side, it was only third party applications that allowed HBM overclocking. You'll need to wait for those applications to be updated to support Wattman.

I don't seem to have Wattman. Did I have to select to install the ****y ReLive bloat?

Are you still using 290's? Wattman might only be available for the 300 series and newer GPUs. You can use Relive though.

It's pretty simple and a lot of fun fine tuning every GPU clock state/voltage setting. What are you have trouble with mate?

My settings for my master GPU below. Fine tuned clocks/voltage for every clock state, knocking 30 watts off power draw under full load. Default voltage on clock state 7 is 1.231v.

Sorry Matt, I'd had a few :D I should have just Googled it!! Thanks for the info, I'm too used to sliders ;)

Also, Can I ask while I'm at it - You know the Pro Duo, with the chips being on the same card does it cut down on the Crossfire latencies? With the recent pricedrop I'm half considering one...

thanks

Wait for Vega, trust me. Not long now.

I don't think it makes much difference, as there is a PLX chip on the PCB similar to what you find in Motherboards that feature x4 PCI-E lanes.

Crossfire is terrible. Don't do it.

Ok Matt/guys, thanks for your input! Wattman is great now I know how to use it lol :D

I'll keep on hangin' in there (or switch to an FX if I find one at a good price...). It's only to raise the minimums a bit tbh, I play The Division quite a lot and Freesync doesn't seem to kick in when it should (although strangely it's MUCH smoother at 70-75fps than when I switch it to off in the monitor settings).

Has anyone had this issue with 17.1.1

Have my fan and temp control set to manual, but on every restart of the PC they go back to default automatic.

Yes I'm applying my settings etc.

Same problem here too. Damn shame, good program! Had the same issue with AB too, hence me trying Wattman.

Matt, is this a known problem?

edit - Uninstalling Afterburner made it work for me.

Nope, still seems to be happening but not with everything. Weird.

Certain things are switching back to 'Automatic' - Voltage, Temp and Speed.

MSI AB has a setting that removes settings on startup, sounds like that's causing what you have described. Even with MSI AB removed, you might need to DDU and do a clean install.

Ok man thanks, will do.

That said, my fan settings reset to default too. I'll have to check to see whether that's expected, there might be a safety reason why it resets to default on bootup. All other settings are saved though, clock/voltage/power limit/temp targets.
