The AMD Driver Thread

I've used AMD since November 2012 and not been that impressed with the drivers. My preference would be to go back to Nvidia but they just haven't had a decent value proposition at the times I've been looking to buy. The new control panel is incredibly slow and clunky for example; you click a button and wait 5s+ before it updates, or click again and the app greys out and brings up the "bla bla has stopped responding" dialog. I think it may be something to do with the large number of games I have installed on a mechanical drive and it insists on polling them all for the profile manager or something.

I've had a very different experience, Over the last 18 months AMD's driver support has been great,
Before then I was often in this thread complaining about how long it took to get new game drivers ready
or how this or that was bugged but, there's been nothing major to complain about in a long time,
They've been doing a great job both avoiding issues and being on the ball and quick to fix them when they are there.

Never had any issues with the profiles for games but then I don't have many games and I have a SSD for my OS + a SSD for my game drive.

Personally I absolutely love the UI for crimson now despite hating it at first... So clean and minimal and very fast too!

I liked it from the moment I saw it. UI and loading is much better than nvidia control panel. Nvidia should look to update theirs, it looks and feels like it is from another decade.

Where has the setting gone that allows you to choose the colour output for the monitor eg: full RGB or YCbCr?

See here two Displays connected Philips is the HDMi TV and BenQ is Monitor Displayport, I can only change the Pixel Format for HDMI this has always been the case for me.

OMG they still have a Radeon Additional Settings area? I remember when the new UI was released they said they will slowly be bringing everything into the new UI. I see they were seriously when they said "slowly" :p

Am yet to have a single crash, and this includes Closed Beta over 40 hour worth gameplay... Has this only just started happening since recent patch? Did you play the beta?

It never has been for DisplayPort mate, DisplayPort by default is RGB Full Range. Only HDMI and DVI can have the RGB changed from AMD drivers.

Ah fair enough haha, bought a new monitor a few weeks ago and this is my first time connecting anything with DisplyPort . Thanks for the info.

Yeah I only have couple option in there now tbh almost everything has gone that used to be in there.

Is this directed to me? I only installed the card after the event patch so haven't used it as part of PUBG beta. The game was fine with my previous card and is otherwise stable.

I had zero crashes in the Alpha and Closed Beta Battlegrounds (with my 480), its the game that hasnt had much optimisation yet.. crashes happen for Nvidia users too. It also ran pretty crap for me unless i turned down certain settings just to maintain 60fps :)

That game still hasnt got a Vsync option (which would be nice for some of us FreeSync users).

When it first came out I found myself getting stuck for several minutes each time I attempted to go into or out of the games section,
but that was more due to the fact that I had around 1500 games installed across 6 tb's of HDD's,
I downsized and now have around 450 games across 1tb of ssd's and a 2 tb hdd and it moves through it smoothly and instantly now.
