Except if you bother to read the countless forums, sub reddits i.e. just one sample, which is where only AMD's fanboys/users gather:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/663wjv/radeon_software_crimson_relive_edition_1743_whql/

387 comments and it is hard to find a single user in that sub reddit who hasn't got any issues with this latest driver....

So you will see that it isn't just "PEBKAC"..... Good for you if you have no issues but if you knew anything about PCs in the first place, you would know by now what might work ok for you doesn't mean it will work automatically for everyone else, there's a reason why so many are still on 16.11.5

Zero issues here mate, it's strange seeing we both own the same GPU.

Yup it is odd, these 17.x.x/relive drivers just aren't playing nice on my system at all.

But as you can see from the above, there is more than your fair share of complaints and a lot of people sticking to 16.11.5.

I personally think AMD are just putting all their resources into vega's drivers atm so QC/stability for current cards has taken the back seat for the time being.

17.4.4 Colours seems a bit washed out like a white tint...another person encounter this problem from another forum with different card..

I used latest ddu before install them, w10 RS2.

Edit: Actually its like the screen got brighter? Driver messed up with monitor settings or something?

Hi Guys,
Anyone else experienced a lot of crash to desktops with an RX480 and Heroes of the Storm?
I believe it was the RX480 cards I had not being 100% and also possibly iffy power delivery as they were reference boards but wanted to check I am alone and this isn't a common thing for those with otherwise working cards!

Yup was crashing to desktop for me at least once every game I played last night. Have stability issues in a few games I play including Diablo 3 and the new quake beta.

Starting to wish I had never bothered with the RX480, I've had nothing but problems since the day I got it :(

Hmmm, anyone else got this? Trying to establish whether my card was faulty or not! I've seen similar issues on AMDs forums, and most people mentioning an RMA or two later and they're fine, same system.
The supplier are organising to send me another custom card rather than reference. As these generally have redesigned power delivery etc, I'm hoping this will resolve the issue.

HotS was fine on an R9 290 and 7950 so it's not like this is a general issue with HOTS/AMD.

Not happy to have a card that's not stable plain and simple.

My rx 480 has been chugging along fine ever since that 17.2.something(the freesync fix driver). I still have an odd issue from time to time with freesync but it seems limited to The Division and maybe rainbow six which i havent had install in like ages now).

When I checked mine in settings it was no longer on my right pixel setting ie full RGB mode for my monitor, so I changed that and it all looks fine again.

Hmm,. I don't have any real reason to jump on 17.4.4 as 17.4.3 is running well so I'll wait and see if there is a bug,
I just noticed that 17.4.3 are whql and 17.4.4 are not. They're also 125 kb's smaller which seems like a lot?

Be honest, what is the state of play with the AMD gpu drivers?

I've been green since the 670 launched. In those years I've had very very few driver issues. Maybe once in that time frame I'd had to roll back to previous drivers.

My head is green and I'm comfortable green. BUT I went and bought a Ryzen CPU which I'm really happy with and the idea of a Ryzen/Vega set up sounds nice... but it confuses the hell out of me as I am comfortably green!

I currently have a 970 and would like a Freesync/Gsync 144hz 1440p monitor. This 1070 has my name on it but i'm trying to wait for Vega.

But then looking at benchmarks the 1070 will only get fps in the 60-70s (all bells and whistles) and not sure if that's disappointing or not considering the 144hz monitor upgrade.

Also thinking that if anyone can get the most out of Ryzen it will be AMD with a Vega gpu.
