Except if you bother to read the countless forums, sub reddits i.e. just one sample, which is where only AMD's fanboys/users gather:

387 comments and it is hard to find a single user in that sub reddit who hasn't got any issues with this latest driver....
So you will see that it isn't just "PEBKAC"..... Good for you if you have no issues but if you knew anything about PCs in the first place, you would know by now what might work ok for you doesn't mean it will work automatically for everyone else, there's a reason why so many are still on 16.11.5
Yup it is odd, these 17.x.x/relive drivers just aren't playing nice on my system at all.
But as you can see from the above, there is more than your fair share of complaints and a lot of people sticking to 16.11.5.
I personally think AMD are just putting all their resources into vega's drivers atm so QC/stability for current cards has taken the back seat for the time being.
